OK - I'm calling it as we haven't met up for a long time, and we really should.

I would like to do The Welsh Aqueduct camping trip in Late June or early July, and I think we would need a couple of nights to make it worthwhile. So a long weekend would be best - i.e. Friday and Saturday night at least.

The best campsite would be the Tower Farm Campsite in Llangollen. £6 per person per night regardless of how many tents. Heated shower block, right by the canal (Llangollen branch - a few miles from the Aqueduct).

There's other accommodation in Llangollen - hotels etc if needed.

The travel thing could be a bit of a pain - but we could get two insured drivers for each car and share chauffeuring duties? Or the train stations are near as well.

And the Aqueduct and canal walk here: http://www.pontcysyllte-aqueduct.co.uk/en-gb/top-ideas/pontcysyllte-aqueduct/

I know I tried and failed to get this going last year, but I will probably go myself and would welcome any of my Flashaholic friends along for a weekend of torches and sleeping under canvas (well - rip-stop nylon anyway).

Any takers?

Please count me in on the Welsh Aqueduct camping trip in Late June or early July. 2 or 3 nights sounds perfect.

Lets hope for sunny weather

Yay Make that 3 !
:)

Hooray! Welcome petrev. 3 for Pontcysyllte!

On the date front, how about:

June 24th/25th
July 1st/2nd
July 8th/9th

I'll contact the campsite nearer the day, but they look good.

Schools haven't broken up yet, so shouldn't be too bad - local holidaymakers only.

I would like to leave London Early on the Friday, so no work for me!

Hello all :) unfortunately this is looking very unlikely for me. Those dates are almost certainly out and I could probably only do something early August as I just have far too much going on June/July, though early June might be possible.

Hi Sub, glad to hear from you.

Sorry the dates don't work for you, they are the only ones I can do, the difficulty is getting the Fridays off when I'm on the job, so to speak. My current job finishes on June 20th, but you never know, something may turn up.

Cheers.

To be honest, I'm not sure what I'll be able to make and what I won't this year. I'll certainly try to come but will have to let you know closer to the time. It'll have to be a 'probable' from me.

Now we are the fantastic four. I second the 24th/25th June 2016

How much is the boat hire?

I've had a quick look online but can't find any prices. I remember that you could do a half-day hire from Trevor, close to the aqueduct, which would be perfect as we could do the tunnels too. I can call them when I'm back in the UK early next week or if someone is keen I think I posted a photo of their phone number on the side of a boat in an earlier thread.
