I am selling my SOLA 4000, other dive lights and looking at cheap replacements.

Have also looked at the Archon gear and it also looks great, but still going ultra cheap so sticking to ebay.

I just glanced at your link to the 12,000 lumen light. Six Cree XML2 emitters would have to put out 2,000 lumen each. That's impossible, so therefore nothing else they say about the light is believable either. I strongly suggest looking away.

Trouble is super kermit, cheap and powerful dont go together.................not reliably anyway. Any cheap Chinese ebay light claiming 10,000 this or 16,000 that is not worth the free delivery , especially if its to be depended on under water(or in anyway).

Acebeam have one out now, link above is soon to be released i think, buy once cry once basically .

Fenix do a single 18650 light that seems good called the SD10

4000 real lumen

You would maybe have been better off sending to vinh to mod it, what actual use is it for under the sea? Are you wanting to flood or throw mainly as 4000lm in a reflector with an xhp70 is going to reach out a lot further than the sola 4000 as the leds look placed for flood.

So what use, flood again or throw/reach out there type?

Budget too, presume if your wanting to better a $1500 light, your budget is going to be in that region. No cheap chinese ebay junk will come close , more so on reliability not to mention made up impossible lumen claims.

the sola is for flood (video and photo work)

I am going super low budget this time.

(batts and charger will be sold off with one of my old skyray kung lights)

I never thought of getting someone here on the forums to mod what I ebay purchase, but that is a great idea :)

I have now bought the following to test out.

One for flood, one for distance, penetration and throw

If I purchased another set and shipped to vinh to mod them, what could/would he do and what cost might I be looking at?

You would have to email him tbh,
[email protected]

Here is one he did more recently

I cant really help you any further , for me the cheap chinese stuff are just junk and will always be bar the odd one. The cells and (probably the)charger with the light are fit for the bin only for a start, the light no doubt will fail at any depth. The max output that could be is around 6000lm if each is driven quite hard(which it wont be). If the leds are genuine and not copies, they will be driven at 3-400lm each i would say. It might appear brighter due to having a hot spot V the flood of the previous light you had but it will probably be around 1/2 the output.

Good luck , vinh maybe able to swap the driver to a programmable one and change the LED's, however no doubt at any depth the button/ control ring will fail due to pressure.
