Has anyone managed to remove the delrin shroud without damaging your tailcap?

I have done it twice. Used a ziploc bag to keep the tailcap dry. dipped the shroud end in boiling water, holding the thread side above the water. You may want to use tongs. Left shroud in for maybe 15 seconds or more. The idea is to heat (and expand) the shroud without heating (and expanding) the tailcap too much, thus allowing separation. It does require strength and decisiveness, and I'm glad it does, because the shroud stays on tenaciously otherwise.

I use 2 sockets and a small vice. One small enough in diameter to fit inside the outer portion of the tail-shroud and one a bit larger in diameter than the tail-cap. Set the tail-cap in the larger socket then place the smaller socket on the exposed portion of the tail-cap at the beveled end of the shroud. Place this unit in a small vice and press the tail-cap out of the shroud.

I only have 1 shroud and a few tailcaps. It's currently on my natural HA one and I want to swap it to a black one to match a Lego.

Success! Thanks jdboy for the socket suggestion! I had to read it a few times before it clicked. I didn't have a large enough socket, so I used the 6p head after taking out the lens and bezel. Pictures! [emoji1303][emoji1303][emoji1303][emoji1303]

Pretty good thinking there with the bezel!! A technical writer I am not for sure but was hoping I could get my point across. Glad I was able to help out.
