Hi guys,
today I review the brand new Archon S24V, first look!!

This is a video light which I find very convenient, small sized with only one 26650, and an output of 2400 lumens! But still providing an extremelly long runtime of over 4 hours, take a look at the runtime test!

Then we have the Ball joint! very nice accessorie together with all the included components and the package itself.
The light has an integrated over-discharge protection for the battery! This means you can use unprotected cells and not worry about over discharging them. This is a great feature not found in many lights!

The switch is the usual Archon magnetic Push switch, I find it very convenient to opperate as it switches quite easilly, but still hard enough to prevent accidental switching.

It is powered by 4pcs Cree xm-l leds with a max output of 2400lumens cold/neutral-white light, and 2 xp-e red leds, with an output of 200 lumens red light.
See the underwater opperation here!

It has a 2 O-ring design, the O-rings are very thick and came well lubricated!
The thread is short and clean cut.
Both negative and positive contacts use a spring for ideal contact.

The battery included is a 4000mAh 26650 protected li-ion battery, the charger has a 1A output and was a EU plug in my case.
Included in the set is the light, ball joint, battery, charger, a wrist strap, spare-O-rings and an english user-manual.

Thanks for reading this!
Greetings

Re: NEW Archon S24V review not released yet

Fast-forwarding through the already fast-forwarded video, it looks like the lamp doesn't dim noticeably until around 4 hours, shortly before it cuts out. That's pretty good!

Unless the camera is tricking us and the lamp actually does dim quite a bit before 4 hours, I've got some bad news for you. I hate to burst your bubble, but that light isn't putting out anywhere near 2400 lm. I'll run the math for you:

4000 mAH times an average of 3.7V gives 14.8 WH. Divide that by 4 hours and you see the lamp must be drawing 3.7W from the battery. To get 2400 lm from 3.7W, that would be 650 lm/W, approximately double what's theoretically possible for a 'white' emitter, and more than 5 times what the XML is capable of. The addition of red LEDs might improve the CRI, but reduces the efficacy below what the XML's could do on their own.

Even if they were XML2's, they could only produce at the very best a little under 150 lm/W. If you are wildly optimistic and assume 90% efficiency in the driver, you get 3.7*0.9*150 = 500 lm.

Realistically, you've probably got well under 500 lm.

it have cold fusion battery inside ....OMG !

PS: it is stupid IMO to present such informations on that forum , some of there went to school and can do some math  .

So I challenge you M.Pille to to prove that we are wrong :fail:

!

Yeah, but there were a lot of exclamation points, that should count for something. Maybe the lumen/runtime claims would be more believable if it had more exclamation points AND IT WERE ALL CAPS!!!!!
