hi,

you say:

but in the specs page of this LED, i can see a maximum output of 1483 lumens.
link here: http://www.cree.com/LED-Components-and-Modules/Products/XLamp/Discrete-Directional/XLamp-XHP35-HI

so what's the deal? why the "commercial" value is so different from the technical value?

thanks

Italian guy tested the light and the results are:

Low: 25
Med: 506
High: 1280
Turbo: 1836
Lux: 74K (542M)

http://www.cpfitaliaforum.it/phpbb/viewtopic.php?f=22&t=13739#p218309

Not too shabby for a small light. I suspect the result could be better with a high drain unprotected cell like iJoy.
With discount, I am getting both DN35 and DN70!

Excellent Light with serious design flaw:

Performance-wise the DN35 is an excellent light. Unfortunately, the ergonomic functionality is among the worst of the many lights I have used. Aside from the unnecessary second button, made superfluous by superior single button designs such as the Nitecore MH series, the inaccessibility of the buttons makes the light virtually non-functional in the field, in darkness, or whenever quick reaction is desired.

In an apparent attempt to make the light unique (OLED display, blue end cap, etc) the designers have, IMO, almost defeated the usefulness of an otherwise very fine light. I devised a crude mod that gets around the problem, but I hope that Imalent will resolve this unnecessary design flaw in the next iteration of the DN35.

I like the DN35 except that in the dark, the switches take forever to find, blending too well with the body. Beautiful beam, though.
