This time in Canada. It looks like a spare 18650 carried loose in the pocket shorted with pocket change.

This guy suffered 1st and 2nd degree burns on his hand and heeds skin graft for the 3rd degree burn to his thigh. The case of the 18650 is fused to his jeans.

But the thing that gets me is what he said - 'We had heard about the actual devices exploding but never knew the risk of the batteries...."

"Johnson said he's been using e-cigarettes for a number of years but was never warned of its dangers."

Aren't vape stores telling people it's the batteries that cause the explosions and warning not to carry loose batteries? or just people not listening?

Almost all of these cases involves people who vape. Not passing judgement on any ones addiction as smoked for years till I stopped. But still I think this habit has made lithium ion batteries more used by people who have no clue. Before safeguards were built into products aka lap tops etc. Sure stuff could still happen but now the 18650 is truly out in the wild and can bite.
