If mounting a large auxiliary lamp such as a Cibie Super Oscar or Hella Rallye 4000 to a solid base mount, is there any benefit to adding a rear strut support? The vehicle is a full size 4wd pickup with a fairly firm suspension.
The additional support is especially noticable on long range "spot" or pencil beams. On my current setup I'm using support straps on my spread beam lights as they're mounted on a suspended bar while my pencil beams are mounted above the mounting bracket.
