Hi, I have a 2002 toyota avalon. It comes with stock 9006 bulbs. I was wondering if I can purchase 9011 HIRs and place then in 9006 housing. Is the mod difficult or do I just need to shave the tabs down a bit? I like clear bulbs not the tinted ones.

I'm looking at a Wagner 9011 from amazon (I guess a repackaged philips).

Thank you.

No, that is not a good idea. The 9011 bulb will not fit securely (it's smaller in diameter). It will shake around (beam will flicker) and it has a short life suited for high beam service, not for low beam service.

Much better: use the 9012 +30 for your low beams, and the good 9011 (not Wagner junk) in the high beams. You will have to trim the bulb tabs as described here, and it will be even more important than it already is that your lamps are aimed correctly. Also, your headlamps have to be genuine Toyota (NAL) units, not aftermarket trash, and they have to be in perfect condition without any cloud/haze/yellowing. Brighter bulbs are not a solution to degraded headlamps.

9011 is 9005's equivalent. You can mod 9012 to fit in the 9006's housing.
