We need to summon HKJ to make a review. Still high termination currents?

Known SC2 issues:

  • Smaller especially older cells will not be fully charged due to the high termination current.
  • It is a bit slow on NiMH termination, this adds some extra wear to the batteries.
  • The default 2A current for 18650 cell is fine for high current cell, but is a bit high for many other cells.
  • USB output do not have overcurrent protection.
  • It may terminate early at 2A NiMH charging.

Have they been addressed?

Received mine from Banggood. The only drawback so far -- a audible hiss without a load. In a silent environment (night) might be annoying. When a battery is inserted the noise disappears.

When a battery is full the hiss is audible again. "Full" cell is 4.16V. Most likely because of high termination current.

Update: when I put a partially discharged battery into the charger it displays precise voltage (3.87V -- exactly what DMM showed a moment ago). But when a battery is "full" SC4 displays "nice" 4.20V. I put DMM's probes to the charger contacts with a battery still in place -- 4.18V. I take a battery out and measure its voltage separately -- 4.18V.

The charging current was 1.5A. The battery -- Keeppower IMR26650 5200mAh (UH2652, ver. 2015).

There is a feedback on Amazon saying it won't charge 18650 over 4.13V on Slot #1. Not sure if that happens on every unit.

It's not unlikely that it might keep showing the end-voltage, not updating it after it's stopped, so the charger keeps showing the end-voltage, despite it having fallen afterwards. This is quite common, and IMHO the desirable choice. It's easy enough to get a fresh read, but would be harder to go back and get the end value.

MC3000 does about the same - keeps showing end voltage - but when you push a button to leave the program you get a live feed again.

Got my SC4 and some NBM40's today.

First impression is good for the charger and those NBM40's are great way to store my 18650's safely. I have to buy some more of them and maybe another SC4 as well.

I don't have any Nitecore flashlight or batteries, so i'm using these instead.
