Hi all, new to CPF so please show some mercy. I have recently purchased a Nitecore MT10C for my EDC and its great with 900lm to 1lm range, plus a red led for indoor type stuff. I have owned a Nitecore MH12 which is rechargable for some time and it is also useful for outdoor stuff. Anyway, I read about swapping body tubes on the Nitecore lights and decided to try it out. This was in hopes to get longer run times on the MT10C head using an 18650 battery.

The MT10C is 3.6" in total length and uses an IMR 18350 rechargeable battery from Nitecore. The MH12 is 6.1" or so (maybe less?) and uses an 18650 rechargeable battery also from Nitecore. Both tubes are 1" diameter and interchange well. When running the MT10C with the MH12 body tube and an 18650 the light works great. But when running the MH12 head on the much shorter MT10C body with the 18350...no light :(

The MH12 head has a micro SD port for recharging the battery without removal. The MT10C head does not have this functionality. Assembling the MH12 head on the short MT10C body goes ok, but the tail clicker becomes quite tight at the very bottom, almost like the IMR 18350 battery is a mm or 2 too long, and you need to apply moderate torque to get the tail cap to fully seat.

Any ideas on how to get the MH12 head working on the shorter MT10C body with IMR 18350 battery?

I have some Keeppower ICR 900 mah 18350's coming in the mail in hopes it is a battery length thing. But maybe its a thing where the rechargeable MH12 does not like anything but an 18650?

First Hello to CPF

You could use a 16340 battery which is 1 mm shorter ;-).
