I would like to make a list for myself and others who have the same question. In terms of size I do not want to go any larger than a 1x 18650 flashlight. I want to be able to carry it in my pocket. I prefer 500+ lumens as well. I would like the lux numbers if you have them available.
The only lights I am aware of are

Zebralight SC600 MKIII HI 17,789 lux 267M

MH20GT 33,000 lux 362M

Eagletac M30C2vnT XP-G2 PDT driverVN2, modded by Vinh.
301,000 lux, 686 lumen. I love this single 18650 light!

No longer on his website, www.skylumen.com but email him.

If that head is too large, Eagletac S200C2vn XPG2 PDT, drive VN with 155,000 lux & 685 lumen.

And if that's still too big, get the tiny Eagletac TX25Cvn XPG2 PDT, single 18350 light with 50,000 lux & 550 lumen.

I own all 3 flashlights.

It's gonna be a TX25C2vn.

If you don't want a modded light, you won't get anywhere close the lux, because in order to get that amount of lux, you'll need a dedomed xpg2, and no manufacturer offers that.

Nitecore's current page for MH20GT says 33,000 lux, not 39,000. Which is still pretty good for a factory light rather than a custom. Eagtac, if they live up to their specs, should be coming up with some lights that are substantially smaller but with about 20% more lux than the Nitecore.

The Zebralight at 17k is not really competitive in this class. Just too many lights around this size or smaller that are over 20k -- Eagtac's site is full of them. For non-custom lights, my top recommendation would be to go wander around Eagtac's site, you'll find plenty. Obviously, I'm assuming throw is your #1 concern, there's plenty of reasons to pick up an SC600, I just don't think it's worth mentioning if throw in this size class is the single most important factor

That T-series VN is pretty awesome! Hate you guys for showing it to me and tempting me :)

"EDC" is too broad of a category, in my opinion. For some, that means nothing larger than a 1xAA. For some, that means 1x16340, 1x18350, or 1x18650, but not "too big." There are probably some LEO's and others who consider something much larger to be EDC gear (4xAA, 3xCR123, 26650, etc.). For me personally, no matter how awesome that TX25C2vn looks, it is a touch too big for me to carry every day (no holster for me, my pockets hold all my gear); even the SC600 or the D4 doesn't really make it into my pocket every day due to size, if I'm being honest.

It might be interesting to graph some sometimes-correlated parameters, like max diameter vs throw, weight vs throw, throw vs lumen-hours, etc., so that people could find out where on each graph they want their light to land and maybe find some candidates. There is a very recent cpf thread that has a large table of throw vs max diameter (mostly really large throwers), I'll link if I find it quickly.

bykfixer: the XL50 is 12500cd, which is easily bested by 2-3 times by the 18650 lights mentioned here. Still that's pretty crazy good throw from a 200 lumen 3AAA light! Hell, poor Klarus barely gets better than that with a de-domed XPL blowing nearly 1000 lumens, in a light that's supposed to be a thrower.

How about the Klarus XT12GT? Couldn't that be considered an EDC? 90,000+ lux, almost identical to the P30 which has a bigger head and actually is EDC sized.

If you are not bothered by the heads of the XT12GT and the Nitecore P30, then get the best in their class: Olight M2X-UT 160,000+ stock lux.

Else you could go the modded route and buy from Vyn. :)

The ACEBEAM L16 is another single 18650 flashlight with claimed throw of ~90,000 lux (600 meters). It uses a XHP35-Hi which is driven hard on Turbo to produce around 2000 lumens.

Its more of a coat-pocket than trouser-pocket sized light though. I bought one and am impressed with the output and throw.

There should be Emisar D1 available soon....Should be the throwiest light of its size with 18650 and even more outstanding with 18350. Personally, I can't wait.

Any specs on the D1? What is it exactly? Sounds like an 18350 or 18650 light (two tubes?) with high throw? Eagletac is claiming their next 18350 will hit 37k cd, what's the Emisar looking at? thanks! Hadn't even heard of the brand before

The only things that I know (and I don't think there's much more available publicly) is:
* 40 kcd, no battery specified, so probably 18650
* XP-L HI
* same UI as that of D4 (superb!)
* 18650, 18500, 18350 tubes. Interchangeable with those from D4
* coming soon
* pictures:

I'd like to read about this Eagletac. Looks like a competitor for D1. :)
