Hello, a family member has gotten a job working at a theatre (which also operates as a cinema some days) as an usher. She's currently using an old Ultrafire cheapie.

Any suggestions sub £50 which'd be good for the role?

Presumably something with a very simple interface, either low first or programmable to make it low first. Getting daily use so rechargeable (preferably dock or built in system). Pocket clip or similiar probably beneficial too.

Any flashlight with a low of around 5 lumens or so should work reasonably well. You might need to experiment a little to determine the actual output needed for good visibility. Any of the Lumintop Tools would work except that they are M-L-H. But County Comm sells versions of the Lumintops that have the mode sequence in the more usual L-M-H, so that might be a good source. The Streamlight Microstream, outputting 45 lumens, would probably be at the top end of how much output you would need.

Olight has a couple of well-regarded rechargeable lights, the H1R and S1R, with mode memory and good low-lumen modes. You might have to shop around to stay on budget, but they have some good reviews, and would be very useful in many situations outside the theater. Best of luck!

What about some Nitecore Tube? Tough, good quality, proven, rechargeable, USB chargeable and can fit on a set of keys they might use to get into different rooms of the cinema.
