Fenix FD45 LED Flashlight!

1-minute Operation Overview

The Fenix FD45 is a high-performance rotary focusing flashlight that emits a maximum output of 900 lumens. The Fenix FD45 can easily regulate between the spot- and floodlight option. The Cree XP-L HI neutral white LED emits the 900 lumens a distance of 1,082.7 feet/330 meters. The Fenix FD45 is powered by four readily available AA batteries. The FD45 includes 5 output levels as well as strobe and SOS modes. The neutral white light is better for color rendering making this a very useful EDC flashlight for outdoor activities.

This looks fun! What would the run times be with the rechargeable 1600Us?

Specs on the website do NOT include being able to use Li Ion.
But the battery type section does -- and says in cannot be recharged in a charger ???
reconcile incongruity.

Does the light have the same lumen curve with all batteries, or does the alkaline drop from max lumens more quickly?

I'll have our web person check on this. Thanks for pointing that out.

Quiet interesting especially the combination of 4xAA and flood-to-throw beam.

I wish you would make a chart showing the degrees of beam spread for all your lights.

If you are waiting for an answer from the Fenix engineers, they will be on a business trip for 2 weeks. We will get more answers when they return.

If you sent a suggestion, if they have a reply for you, we will post here. Fenix always appreciates your suggestions. Thanks

Re: NEW FD45 Compact Body, Wide-Range View: 900 Lumens!

I just received my FD45 today. The light output and flood to spot are great but it goes downhill from there. The focus ring is beyond tight and I say from experience that it is very easy to pinch your hand when going from spot to flood because the focus ring butts up to the front section of the light when it is in flood mode and you have to grip it so tight to get it to move that part of your hand ends up in the gap that goes away (ouch). I hope that it will loosen up over time. The neutral light is a great color but the UI leaves a lot to be desired. There are no direct modes, only on/off and cycle through five levels. You have to hold the button for about 1 second to turn it on or off but if you happen to hold it for much longer than that it goes into lockout. It is really a shame that it has these mechanical and UI issues because as I said in the beginning, I really like the dual beam configuration and the color of the light. I hope my FD65 will be an improvement when they finally get to ship it

We sent Fenix the question on why they didn't include specs for running the 1600U battery. We will post the answer when we receive it.

Re: NEW FD45 Compact Body, Wide-Range View: 900 Lumens!

We have asked the Fenix engineer about why the 1600U battery wasn't included in the specs. Since this is a USB rechargeable battery, that's why you can't put it in a charger.

We will post the answer when we get it.

Thanks

We have heard from the Fenix engineer.

[FONT=&quot]We always use the battery of high mAh to show the best performance that our products have, and ARB-L14-1600U is the Fenix battery with safety protection that we recommend to customers.
