Looking for a slim thrower, 18650/2xcr123, with a constant diameter of about 22mm. I'd like to get 40k cd if possible so maybe XP-G3 de-domed. Low and High mode at least, with memory. Budget is up to $200. Any thoughts people?

Thanks Capo, I do have a Vinh P60 with approx 60k cd that I carry (and like) a lot. Eagletacs DX30LC2 has the right form factor and does 20k with a XPL-HI, maybe I should buy one and swap out the LED.

22mm is slightly smaller than the specs for this Olight which is ONLY 10Kcd stock. I would take a wild guess and say that V54 could get a max of 30Kcd,probably more like 20/25Kcd.

I do not think it is. That is what I came up with in my quick search!

35mm maybe...40/45mm a few on Vihn's website

Vinh does a D26 module with about 60k, that's why I think 40k might be achievable with a slimmer flashlight. I have sent the master an email!

You probably know it is a tall order to get a lot of throw out of a small diameter. You're looking for 400m of throw (40k cd). Reflectors require diameter in order to throw; smaller-diameter optics can focus some light, but tend to scatter it way more than reflectors.

For a reflector and a single LED, I think Vinh pushed the small form factor Emisar D1 about as far as it will go...with an XPG2 PDT at 700 lumens, he got 490m of throw out of a 35mm head (way bigger than you want, but only slightly more throw that you want). The unmodded D1 might be the best thrower value out there; the stock HI version is 414m of throw, 1300 lumens, and $40!

Vinh pushed the floody, optics-based Emisar D4 about as far as it will go in his D4vn, XPG2 PDT version. It gets hot quick, as it produces 2300 lumens; enough of those lumens are in the center that it has 400m throw, your exact goal. Tube diameter is 1", the head is 28.2mm. Yep, it is a "brute force" way to get throw, but it is the smallest diameter light I know of that meets your 400m throw goal.

If the diameter requirement is more important than the throw requirement, I think that the Zebralight SC63 is the smallest diameter 18650 light I can think of, but I'd be surprised if it throws more than 200m with a 24mm head. To get to 22mm, you're probably into AA/10440 lights. I don't really use those, but a quick search didn't reveal any that were over 300m throw. Again, physics is your enemy here: single-LED reflector-based lights need diameter to throw; optics can be smaller diameter, but tend to scatter light all over the place.

Good luck, and I hope that made sense!

D26 aka p60 module has a 26mm diameter. Spec 7 on Vinh's p60 modules webpage.

I have one and it's a beast of a thrower! Three times the cd of another favourite, a Malkoff HOT. Measured using a cheap luxmeter.

Just checked, and Vinh rates his module at 55k, my memory is not what it was. :D

Nice one, that's a great thrower that I didn't even think of! What is the smallest diameter P60 host, about 31mm UltraFire WF-501B?

No beam shots, but it is a usable beam that just keeps on going. Great tint too!

I've got a couple of those Ultrafires tucked away somewhere, but I'm happy with the pocketable Solarforce.

I forgot! I have One[1] P60 that I bought off of JMPaul320 about 2.5 years ago. It has a very warm tint that I like. It gets used every night under my lamp,,,low mode,,nice and easy on the eyes!

It is a Solarforce L2i. Certainly not high output or a throw monster. 25MM in diameter w/out Including the bezel.30mm w/ bezel/entire head. Maybe I can get another drop in to make it throw 400m!

Here is what Justin said:

its a p60 drop in that was built by nailbender - its a custom 1.7amp xpg2 neutral (3 mode with memory) - should be around 500 lumens or so. You can buy any p60 drop in and use this solarforce as a "host" - the led and reflector/driver are one piece and can be swapped out with other cool stuff :)

Thanks for letting me indulge on my ONLY P60!!

Any recommendations for another P60? It takes an 18500 battery. I am using a Sanyo 1700mah Protected. Justin gave me 4 of them. It also has a plastic tube inside the body to reduce the size to 18500. It seems like it is glued in.
