This is potentially very interesting.
Can the battery be used for lower drain and extended usage as well, such as weeks or months at -20C to -30C?

This could be interesting for those of us in cold climates, that would like to leave a nice lamp in the car for extended periods. More info is needed.

The NL1829LTP batteries can work weeks or months at lower temperatures (-20C to -30C). They are low temperature resistant down to -40C. Yet, it is suggested to use a lower output if below -30C, and to recharge batteries at temperatures between 0 to 40C

From a June 2017 announcement:

A new development in electrolyte chemistry, led by ECS member Shirley Meng, is expanding lithium-ion battery performance, allowing devices to operate at temperatures as low as -60° Celsius.

Currently, lithium-ion batteries stop operating around -20° Celsius. By developing an electrolyte that allows the battery to operate at a high efficiency at a much colder temperature, researchers believe it could allow electric vehicles in cold climates to travel further on a single charge. Additionally, the technology could allow battery-powered devices, such as WiFi drones, to function in extreme cold conditions.

That's a very interesting battery, though a tad expensive for me. I may get one or two nevertheless.

I might order one for use in extreme cold. I am thinking it might be good for my Nitecore lantern to just let run all night. Or maybe for use in F1/F2 as a cold weather powerbank. Guilt free lumens. I am talking cranking cold so hope it can do as the internet says.

This new battery looks very interesting. Carrying my flashlight when I snowmobile I put in a set of primary use lithiums. They work well but I prefer 18650's. I will probably wait until next winter to purchase a battery or two when the price comes down and maybe there will be more choices on the market.

Wow... this is great. Is this Nitecore specific or are we seeing the beginning of new tech that will be in a lot of new 18650's?

Likely neither. NL1829LTP probably uses Panasonic NCR18650F cell under the wraps, a standard cell. But since low-temp cell is a niche product and that apparently Panasonic had to sacrifice regular-temp performance it's unlikely that we'll see many similar ones.

This is great! Low temps are definitely a major issue for me with my Zebralight HL600Fw (MkIII), even at fairly mild temperatures- The other day I was climbing at around 15°F (that's +15), and with a fully charged 3400 Mah Fenix cell, it died almost immediately when I tried using it at H1 or H2. That despite putting it in my pocket for at least 30 minutes to warm it up beforehand.

I'm definitely going to order one of these. Question: What's the difference between the NL1829LTP and the 'High Performance' NL1829LTHP? The HP version says '8A High Discharge'. Would it make any difference with my Zebralight? Perhaps it will handle H1 output for longer before dropping out due to voltage?
