OK. Here it is. I've narrowed my search to these two lights:

Surefire G2X pro - 600 lumen

Streamlight Protac HL - 750 lumen

Anyone have experience with either and running a rechargeable 16650 battery in them? Any run time tests?

Regarding just the battery Is the 16650 going to run longer than the two cr123a's? How much longer if so?

Thanks guys, I can't find anything out there.

It might be because the 600lumen g2x is fairly new. I remember there are some discussions about it a couple of months ago. Maybe someone will chime in

Just want to check some research....

It appears 16650 bat will last longer, but not by very much. From what I've gathered they are pretty much the same, just one is rechargeable.

For longer service I should just stay with my current solarforce host, new dropin and my 18650 batt.

My current is the 3100 mAh orbtronic battery. That thing is still a tank after 4 years. So I just ordered 2 more from orbtronic (3500 mAh).

Thoughts???

If run time is absolutely a priority for your duty, yeah the 18650 fuel tank is still the way to go. Lots of R&D has gone into packing more fuel into those for laptops and other applications we benefit from now.

16650's aint bad if that ends up being necessity.

Just get an HL-X. Better selection of 18650s and it can still use a couple CR123 cells if need be.
