I just wanted to let everyone know about the LED in this light. I bought the Ti version of the Rev 2 and I have to say I'm a little disappointed with the color of the beam, but the light itself is very nice. The website says "New For 2018 - 219BT - Whiter / True Color - Neutral White - Cool with a lifespan up to 50,000 hours. * Now with the same ultra-low thermal resistance as Cree (Newest & Brightest Emitter ) - Whiter than Nichia 219C Emitter".
  • Low Mode, 5 lumen output for 75 Hours
  • Medium Mode, 50 lumen output for 4.5 Hours
  • High Mode, 235 lumen output for 75 Minutes
It's definitely not warm. I should've payed attention to the description and photo on their website, and looked into this particular LED prior to my order, but I was just excited that the Titanium version was available again!
Anyway, it's a nice AA light and I'm keeping it, but I'm now also on the lookout for a nice warm light in single AA and similar body size.

What exactly is disappointing with the beam color? Does it have a greenish tint? I have a Thrunite Ti3 light that has a greenish beam. I've been told that the beam tint can be affected by the Titanium. Glad you like the light though.

Hi Javora. I was expecting a much warmer tine I guess. I have a couple of warm and neutral lights and the Maratac in definitely cooler than any of those, but no it doesn't have a greenish tint at all just whiter than I expected. It's a great little light though, and I love Titanium. Perfect size for pocket carry, or even on a key chain.

I received the same light the other day and I am disappointed as well. It has a really cool color. The mode spacing between medium and high is not very noticeable. I tried it with an Eneloop as well as a Lithium L91.

to me it says "whiter light" not warm light. Warm to me means yellow tints like a candle . Its says "whiter than Nichia" not "warmer"

I don't really see this as mis-representation by Maratac . More a misunderstanding of what a Nichia 219 is an what white means to the buyer?

If you want warm you need to look for emitters in the 2700-3000 K range

That range is really, really warm, lol!

4000K-4500K should be 'warm' for many of us.

yeah its all personal perspective with tints

I Love Warm tint myself and its virtually impossible to find a light with a warm tint. everything is either cool or neutral.

didn't mean to come across as hostile or condescending I have felt the tint let down myself :(

It's all good. Just a part of being a flashaholic! I should have paid more attention to the description on their website, but to be honest all I saw was AA Titanium limited run! Sold!! Still like the light so I'm keeping it. Of course it won't end there.......lovecpf

Here is another who should have paid more attention to the description as I just received two of these lights and do not like the cool tint at all. Serves me right for assuming that anything with "Nichia 219" is going to be warmish high cri. I do think it is a very well made light and also my first titanium and first single aa. Just wish it was a 219b.

I don't mind the color temperature, and it does seem to be still high CRI. However; like you I'm disappointed in the output lumens spacing between Medium and High, I had to check it a couple times to make sure it was working. I've only tested with a Eneloop so far. I was going to dig out my previous version to see if it was similar. I think I will see if I can find my DCFix film also, to make a different beam more suitable with the output. I have to test it more first in real world usage.

Countycomm's product page description is self-contradictory and confusing (claims it is both Nichia 219C and Nichia 219BT, AND it claims the tint is both cool white AND neutral white). Likely, this is brilliantly intended to be deliberately ambiguous, to give the cool white customers what they need to hear, and the neutral white customers what they need to hear. There is no such thing as "cool neutral white" or "neutral cool white."

But where no one should be confused, neutral white is not warm white, no matter what the emitter, and neither Nichia 219C or Nichia 219BT emitters are necessarily any particular tint. What tint an emitter has is determined by what color bin it is from, and expecting Nichia 219B or any Nichia or any emitter to be either warm or neutral doesn't make any sense, unless it is specified as such.

Can anyone that has this new 2018 AA Ti revision in particular tell us if the driver is constant current? Gracias.

It is much more likely that they are just lazy or careless. They commonly cut and paste descriptions as they bring out new variants or revisions to their products. They fail to make changes where they should, or have typos. Editing is NOT their strength. But they bring out several material and other revisions for the few products they have over time (aluminum, brass, copper, stainless steel, titanium). I like to buy their Titanium and copper variants.

If you really want to know a technical detail, contact them. If particular temperature of LED or kind of driver is important, wait to see if an expert here has a chance to determine it, or buy from a flashlight specialist or manufacturer. Note that their lights are thought to be private labeled from other manufacturers.

Well, received a Maratac AA Ti. Now is the question: how to determine what revision it is?

Funny feature: you may use it as a "tactical" light. Its threads feature some slack, so even when off you may hold it by the head and use the entire body as a button :)
