Re: Clash of The Throwers 2018

WOW! The last battle of throwers video was invaluable and this promises to be the same! It provided directly comparable views of beams under the same conditions. I remember making a list of the lights vs the time they appeared in the video. Then I could quickly go to any light and compare with another. This goes way beyond statistics of lumen & lux. You can compare hot spot size, corona blend and spill width.
Thank you Vinh! I know this takes a monumental effort.
Found my notes from the last thrower battle...

Nice spreadsheet mike! Very helpful indeed :) I can't think of how at the moment but it'd be sweet to see a comparison between the old thrower lights and the new.

Also for some reason, while I love my x45vn, I never thought of it as a thrower. In fact, at 21k lumens, it's the brightest light in my collection hands down (with the 14k lumen x7vn as a second) but i have plenty of light that beat the x45vn's 114k lux.

Did you want to borrow or buy my U21vn off me to add it to the list of competitors? I still need to send it in for the button replacement anyways.

I hope the LX70 shows up. I've long wondered how these would compare with the big HID.

Nice posting that spreadsheet MAD! Good times!!! Makes me miss my RC40vnT and T6vn :(

Re: Clash of The Throwers 2018

I will offer my humble guess that 7. is the awesome X65vn, not the 45; typo?

I still have my Ultra Throw Combat text document. Blast from the past, almost two years ago: http://www.candlepowerforums.com/vb...-Kombat-Sale&p=4918365&viewfull=1#post4918365

Re: Clash of The Throwers 2018

My goal is to add as many throwers to this comparo as possible. Some flooders will be in it too just for kicks so we can see the difference because why not?! ;-)
Numbers are just numbers. They don't always speak for how "nice" a light is. Control beam shots in an area with good range gives way more details. I will do a table top review also to go through the numbers and as usual give my subjective impressions.

Everything. Intensity, range, and beam profile.

If its an average then I cant argue with that as it gets subjective. Throw alone though Tn42vnOslon Throw more than GT. Stock

Re: Clash of The Throwers 2018

When all things are considered I think the TN42vn90 will be difficult to beat.
I agree Steve, especially after seeing your recent beamshots! I have no use for pencil-thin, laser beam throwers. But the CFT90 throws AND covers a nice sized area.
I'm so excited about these shoot-outs because they reveal the relative size of the hot spots, which lumen/lux numbers do not.

I wonder how fast a CFT90 would eat through 3 18650s.
