Output Levels and User Interface

The Imalent RT35 has 5 normal brightness levels (including the Turbo) + 1 Special (Strobo):

Turbo1: 2350-1500 lm (measured 2390-1260lm) – 8+68 min
High: 1500 lm (measured 1590 lm) – 1h40min
Middle: 750 lm (measured 860 lm) – 3h20min
Middle Low: 350 lm (measured 390 lm) – 7h45min
Low: 50 lm (measured 105 lm) – 36h

All measured values are consistent with what was stated by Imalent

Following the runtime test on the "Turbo" level and the "High" level. The tests were performed using a forced ventilation given by a small fan placed nearby (about 40cm) from the light.

The User Interface is very simple and easy to remember. Thanks to the side switch you can access all the functions of the RT35.

Power On / Off and Level Selection: To turn the flashlight on or off, just click on the side button. With the light on, holding the button down will cycle through the various levels in the order Low - Middle Low - Middle - High.

Direct access to the Turbo / Strobe: with the flashlight on, press the button twice consecutively to access the Turbo. With two more quick clicks you will switch to the special Strobo level.

Low Power Warning: With the flashlight on, when the battery falls below 3.2V the LED indicator near the switch will turn red and indicate that it is time to charge the batteries. If instead the color is Green it means that the battery is still charged.

Intelligent Thermal Control: When using the hight output mode, the flashlight will generate a lot of heat. When the internal temperature of the flashlight body reaches 55 degrees Celsius, it automatically reduce the brightness to 1500 lumen to prevent the overheating

Memory Mode: The flashlight will remember the output level previously used.

Lock-out: When the RT35 is off, press the power button for 3 seconds. The green light under the switch will flash 3 times indicating that the electronic lock-out has occurred correctly. Long press of 1 second to unlock the interface (also in this case the LED will flash three consecutive times)

The body and the materials

The Imalent RT35 is a powerful throwing flashlight that, thanks to the huge reflector it is equipped with, allows you to have 449kcd, and a shot of over 1300mt. The maximum output to the Turbo is a good 2350lumen.
The general construction quality is excellent, the finishes are treated in detail. Anodizing is perfect and without any kind of imperfection.

imalelent%20(44).jpg

To the touch the light offers a good feeling of solidity and excellent workmanship.

imalelent%20(33).jpg

Before use, we must remember to remove the protective film that protects the lens

imalelent%20(23).jpg

The LED of this model is the CREE XHP35 HI which is well centered on the bottom of the parabola.

imalelent%20(48).jpg

The reflector is made of aluminum and at first glance it seems smooth but there is a slight orange peel treatment.

imalelent%20(40).jpg

imalelent%20(42).jpg

The bezel looks like aluminum, protrudes and optimally protects the lens

imalelent%20(41).jpg

The lens is of good quality, with a good thickness and with the classic anti-reflection treatment.

imalelent%20(67).jpg

The lettering is well done and present only in the queue showing the product model (RT35) and the words "Spot and Flood light in One".

imalelent%20(53).jpg

Four small screws block the cap in the tail.

imalelent%20(27).jpg

imalelent%20(26).jpg

imalelent%20(28).jpg

The tailcap is flat and allows you to use the flashlight in tailstanding

imalelent%20(51).jpg

imalelent%20(52).jpg

On the edge of the tail there are a series of holes for fixing the wrist strap.

imalelent%20(66).jpg

imalelent%20(38).jpg

The RT35 has an antirolling profile therefore, placed on a not too inclined surface, it will not roll.

imalelent%20(39).jpg

The knurling is only present on the body, it is well made and offers a good grip even if it is not particularly aggressive.

imalelent%20(32).jpg

The dissipating fins abound on the head of the RT35. In addition to being beautiful, they guarantee excellent heat dissipation on the high levels.

imalelent%20(62).jpg

The switch is lateral, not protruding, wide, of metallic material. When pressed it emits a "click" sound, is very precise and offers excellent tactile feedback. It is easily detectable in the darkness or if you are using gloves.
In the immediate vicinity of the switch there is a status LED that provides information on the capacity of the cells.

imalelent%20(72).jpg

imalelent%20(73).jpg

imalelent%20(64).jpg

imalelent%20(31).jpg

On the opposite side of the switch is the magnetic charging interface. Slightly recessed into the head, this allows the connection of the special cable quickly.

imalelent%20(14).jpg

The charging speed is around 2 amps. A full charge takes about 6 hours to complete. Different types of 18650 cells can be used, both protected and not but preferably top button and not too short.

The light can essentially be divided into two parts: head and body

imalelent%20(54).jpg

imalelent%20(55).jpg

Included in the "Kit" version are 4x Imalent 3000mAh. The configuration is 4P (batteries placed in parallel with each other). Therefore, if necessary, the light can also be used with only 1, 2 or 3 batteries.

imalelent%20(46).jpg

imalelent%20(47).jpg

imalelent%20(49).jpg

imalelent%20(50).jpg

Using a single cell will not be possible to activate the Turbo, while there are no problems if you use the configuration with more than one cell.
The Turbo RT35 absorbs almost 15A so the exclusive use of quality cells that can support these very high absorption is a must..

At the positive pole we have a thick and thick golden ring that allows contact with the positive pole of the cells.

imalelent%20(59).jpg

imalelent%20(61).jpg

At the negative pole we have a series of fairly rigid and good section golden springs.

imalelent%20(57).jpg

A detail with inserted batteries.

imalelent%20(65).jpg

The threads are well made, precise, sliding and lubricated. Thanks to anodizing they allow the physical lock-out of the interface.
An O-ring placed near the threads ensures perfect waterproofing.

imalelent%20(56).jpg

imalelent%20(58).jpg

The weight, given the size of the RT35, is generous but not excessive, about 620g with batteries included. The dimensions are abundant even if the light is quite compact and simple to handle.

Used for long periods does not give any problem because it is perfectly balanced

Supplied with a large nylon holster that protects the light well during transport and allows the transport, for example, to the belt.

The RT35 is guaranteed as waterproof according to the IPX-8 standard. Tested abundantly in running water and at a depth of 1 meter did not report any type of infiltration.

imalelent%20(76).jpg

imalelent%20(78).jpg

imalelent%20(80).jpg

Impact resistance is given up to 1.5m in height.

Beam, Tint and Beamshots

The tint of RT35 is a Cool around 6000K, uniform and without any color change on strange colors.

As you can imagine, we have a very bright and well-focused spot, but at the same time a bright and bright spill that illuminates well even in the immediate vicinity.
Holding the RT35 parallel to the ground at a height of about 80cm, the spill, at the point where you have your feet, starts at about 150 / 160cm away.
The geometry of the beam does not present artifacts, the shot is really monstrous: tested at night I could see how it is possible to illuminate perfectly at 450-500 meters away.
Following some Nightshot on the middle/long distance

Final considerations

How to best define this Imalent RT35? A Throwing Monster!!!
Thanks to its power (over 2000lumen) and 449000 cd that jump out of the huge reflector, this model enters with force arrogance among the most powerful shooting flashlights I've ever had or tried. Very narrow and well focused beam, bright and wide spill and nice and uniform color Cool, are just some of the features that this model boasts.

The RT35 is powerful but compact at the same time. It is comfortable to hold in your hands even for long periods, it is balanced and the weights are well distributed.

The user interface is complete, 5 levels well spaced among them, 1 special level stroboscope, excellent regulation, protection against overheating with an active temperature control, possibility of electronic and physical lock-out and LED status indicator.

Pro:

  • Attractive design thanks to the aggressive and deep dissipation fins.
  • Wide and precise metal switch. I really love it!
  • KIT version full of accessories: Holster, 4x 3000mAh batteries, Laynard and spare O-ring
  • Great power and crazy throwing
  • Excellent regulation and simple interface
  • Perfect beam and tint
  • Integrated charge System
  • Overheating Protection
  • Status LED

Cons:

  • Proprietary USB cable. It would be nice to see a completely waterproof Type-C port

I was very satisfied with this model, certainly it is a product to be recommended.
