The explosive problem with recycling ... they literally catch fire

Literally, opposed to...figuratively? I wonder, in what other manner, the newspaper writer thinks they would catch fire?

Sure, we could have IPads & IPods with replaceable batteries...if we didn't mind them being 4 inches thicker. The reported states it is a design problem but the reality is we want smaller, thinner, yet faster processsing with more memory...if company A doesn't make it, company B will. It's too bad they can't make the devices with access to change and or remove batteries but if we could change batteries as easy as we do on our Flashlights think of all the poor technicians we would put out of work(sarcasm intended)....

They don't need to be much (if any) thicker to have replaceable batteries. The primary reason they stopped using replaceable batteries is because that forces most users to buy a new model when the battery dies, hence helps to increase profit (also Apple's longstanding closed-system and anti-right-to-repair stances play some role)
