will anyone start making LEDs in the US now?
even with the tariff, i can still buy em cheaper from china.
and Cree are made in china anyway.
think the government would finance a LED making factory?

No chance. US market is nowhere near enough to make a separate plant for them. You'll just pay more.

A lot Cree die is made in the US. They are packaged in China. Could they be packaged in another low wage country? Yes. China is dominant in LED packaging, but high quality LED die is often made in other places, i.e. Nichia in Japan, Epistar in Taiwan, Samsung and LG in Korea.
