Starting in 2017, Ledvance Sylvania started making LED filament bulbs right here in the USA with US and imported parts. You can get them at Walmart. Pretty good priced too.

This month, Feit Electric rolled out frosted LED filament Enhance bulbs for the California market, meeting CEC and Title 20 requirements for CRI. They are available at Ace Hardware stores for $12.99 for a pack of 4 bulbs. But this month you can buy one pack and get one pack for free. Feit is also selling these in other states but in standard 80 CRI versions.

So there you have it. We are still using the same ol glass light bulbs that we, our parents, our grandparents, and our great grandparents used. Only more efficient now.

Glad to see these take off, the aesthetics and reliability of the filament bulbs have been better for us here, the power LED versions get much too hot and die prematurely, sometimes quicker than an incandescent even.

Great for exterior house lighting where you need something that's omnidirectional, somewhat decorative seen exposed in an open fixture, and won't use too much energy being constantly left on throughout the night. Obviously being outdoor lighting the CRI is less of an issue.
