So i have been playing with night vision and IR laser pointers on weapons. One thing I noticed is that some weapon lasers have a laser IR Illuminator. Basically an IR laser flashlight. The beam has divergence.

here is an example using my PSQ-18 grenade launcher laser sight.

i want to get one of those Chinese IR lasers that are more powerful. Nothing too outrageous. Something along the lines of 1W.

but my problem is I cannot find laser pointers with beam divergence. Do they exist? Are there infrared lasers that's you can adjust the diameter of the beam?

if not how could I modify one?

Most "laser modules" have an adjustable focus using the final lens in the beam collimator. You should be able to spin it and the beam will focus accordingly. Some of these have loctite or some other thread locking adhesive that you'll need to break loose, as well as reapplying to keep the final focus point from moving.
