Looking to get my father a flashlight for a gift <~$50. Something somewhat simple with not a lot of fancy settings (strobe effect , SOS etc.). As much as I would like to get him a rechargeable, I think he would be more happy with something that can run off of Alkaline disposable batteries. He will be mainly using it for task around the house, but does have some property so I think it would be nice to be able to light up the yard if needed. Initial thought is a Fenix E20 or Thrunite Archer 2A, but welcome any suggestions. Thank you!

The 2 1AA lights that I carry are the Utorch UT01 and the Coast HX5, but I use NiMh rechargeable batteries and have no idea how long they would last with alkaline batteries.

These are both $20 or less.

281 lumen MagLite 2AA Mini Mag pro PLUS - the plus model has a low mode that the standard Pro's don't have.

Another suggestion is the 300 lumen Rayovac 2 AA indestructible from Home depot, which also has 2 modes.

The LitezAll 300 lumen 1AA 20985 (Promier® COB LED Aluminum 280 Lumen Tactical Flashlight) from Menard's for $9.99 is a 2 level output zoomie / focusing flashlight that can be adjusted from floody/dispersed beam for close up lighting to a very tight focus for viewing things farther away.

Menard's SKU 5750145 (is actually for the 280 lumen light, but I bought the 300 at our local Menard's).

Promier P/N LA-300FL-6/24 or P300FL-6-24 (their web page has both numbers)

From Promier web page:
UPC Code: 8-11446-02098-5
Product ID/SKU LA-300FL-6/24
SKU 20985

Very simple to operate tail switch.

Lumintop AA Tool, can be had for less than $20 on Amazon

If he is only going to use alkalines this is probably a good choice. The Tool looks a little better to me than some of the other thrifty offerings and has the advantage of using just a single AA. I loath using alkaline AAs in lights but lithium and Nimh are often a tough sell to non-flashoholics so I think low cost is the way to go with the propensity of alkalines to leak.
