Hi Everyone from the Community...

I have an old Lenovo LiIon battery that I want to use for an LED project that I am working on and hoping you can guide me through the wiring...

This is the battery I have:

Wondering what the Blue, White and Yellow wiring is for. I know that some batteries have wires for Thermistors and some are for Monitoring... How do I get these wires defined?

I dont see anything specifically for that connector plug but try searching on keywords; lenovo+laptop+battery+pinout+diagram

You will likely need to add a jumpers or resistor between some of the connector plug wires to get it to wake-up and send power the +/- voltage terminals. This pack likely has 4x Lion cells wired in parallel configuration.

Laptop batteries come in all sorts of configurations with parallel and series sets of cells. The wiring is to charge the cells usually in ~4v sets or single sets paralleled and then connect them up in series to power a device using circuitry to do so. There is also a thermistor typically involved somewhere. Depending on what type of project you are going to do you may be able to figure out how to use the battery as is but more likely you will end up having to rip it open and harvest the batteries apart from the circuitry perhaps keeping intact the battery tabs.
I've seen packs with 8, 12, 16 cells and other variations with outputs of 8,12,16v or close to those numbers.
The biggest issue about using the pack is trying to charge it if it needs smarts of the device attached to it.
