That was my thought too. Somewhat paradoxical to think that they are selling their lighting division to concentrate more on making light. But life is funny like that. :)

Their market share in LED has been declining and did not show any signs of getting better. Their technology is good, but too expensive, and small LEDs and COBs are dominating the volume of the market, leavings Cree's specialty area a steady or declining space as you have less and less relative money to compete with. Their investment in Lextar was basically an admission of this.
