Ditto, this is very simple, logical and orderly. The other way is excessive, inefficient and can be a bit annoying.
With regards to spelling, typo's, and grammar, the only time I find this annoying is when I do it myself, and that's far too often... If I can even compose anything of communicative value I feel like I got off lucky.

FWIW, I also do that. It's faster and more efficient. E.g:
*Click the + button next to the quote button for all relevant quotes*
*Hit the Quote button on the last one*
*Type out all replies as needed*
*Post*
As opposed to:
*Hit Quote on the first post I want to reply to*
*Type out reply*
*Post*
*Hit Quote on the second post I want to reply to*
*Type out reply*
*Post*
*Hit Quote on the third post I want to reply to*
*Type out reply*
*Post*
...
Ad nauseam.
Or if I'm quoting one person to reply to another person (usually when the questioner hasn't seen the answer a few posts above), I'd have to go:
*Hit Quote button on the post with the answer*
*Copy the quoted info*
*Go back to the thread*
*Hit Quote on the post with the question*
*Paste the quote*
*Post*
Instead, I just go:
*Hit + button on one post*
*Hit Quote button on the other post*
*Type/do what I need to*
*Post*

I didn't even know what that button was for until now! When I replied to multiple posters in one reply, I would hit the quote button for each poster in separate browser windows, write each reply, and then copy and paste all the posts into a single post. The multi-quote button makes this so much easier.
Looks like you learn something new every day. Cool!

Nice try! Those aren't words either.
They certainly aren't in the dictionary, and googling them brings up YOUR post here, hehehe....
Lectury is a made up adverb, and as the creator of the word, I have decided I don't like your spelling... And lectuarian is not a word either, however lecturer is in fact a word, if you wanted to use it in that way.

I agree. Even for users with fast connections it cleans up the page a lot.
Just FYI, quoted images are not actually loaded twice - but I still edit them to save space.

Wow this is the most replied to Q/P/S thread in the history of CPF.
I think the OP suffers from lackowidthitus or perhaps broadband envy.
In all seriuosness, TakeTheActive, we are just having a little harmless fun, welcome to CPF and enjoy .

I wish the quote within a quote like you can do in PM's would be an easier option to choose....but I can live with it this way.

More like: - lackowidthitus
- lackocpuprocessorspeeditus
- lackocomputermemoryitus
- lackomoneyitus
- lackoenergyitus
- etc...
I had a difficult enough time retiring my ' working perfectly fine' CP/M computers w/8" HDDs and floppies, so now I'm stretching as much life as possible out of my 24x7 Toshiba 550CDT laptop (P266, 160MB RAM, 4GB HDD, 1024x768, Win98SE).
I love Firefox and TABs (have ~12-36 open at any time!) and can usually go several days without a reboot UNLESS I hit a page with too many photos, scripts, flash, etc... which immediately eats up my cache and throws the laptop into 'HDD Thrashing' mode. Then, I just KILL Firefox (via Process Explorer - *LOVE* those Sysinternals Utils!), run 'Recover Memory Now' on Cacheman and restart Firefox with 'Restore Crashed Session'. Too bad it takes ~10-20 minutes though (lackocpuprocessorspeeditus & toomuchcrapgoingonbehindthescenesitus).
I *DO* have faster destops, down in the (unheated / unair-conditioned) basement, but the upstairs den is much more convenient. HAD a desktop up here a while back BUT (short version) health problems, HDD crashes, lack-of-energyitus, etc... hinder it's repair.
BTW, I found a situation where I could use 'Multi-QUOTE' today though...

Wow, and I thought I was using an old system ( AMD XP 3200, 3 GB RAM, 200 GB HDD, GeForce 6200 video). Then again, I have a pretty nice collection of old computers I rehabilitated around the house, including a 40 MHz 386 with a whopping 32 MB of RAM right next to my monitor. I no longer use it, but it makes a nice conversation piece. Downstairs I have an 8086 complete with two 20 MB (not, that's not a typo) 5.25" HDDs, DOS 5.1, and a whole 640K of RAM! Again, never used any more but interesting nevertheless. Any time I think my main PC is getting long in the tooth, I just turn on one my older machines until the feeling passes.

Historically, I've never been very good at being ' diplomatic'. I consider myself VERY LOGICAL and thus, I just simply reply with the ' OBVIOUS' answer (ala Becker, House, Spock, etc...). So, I can (kinda) understand how my first attempt failed ( Post #31 (PRETTY CLUMSY! )
Then, I came across this recent thread by batmanacw: Cost per lumen/hr.- Post #4 (QUOTING *ALL* of Post #3)
- Post #11 (QUOTING *ALL* of Post #10)
- Post #13 (QUOTING *ALL* of Post #12 *HUGE*)
...and my ' inner self' is SCREAMING *SAY SOMETHING*, but my ' try to be nice' side can't come up with anything DIPLOMATIC.
It appears that fellow CPF member Linger may also share in my goal, ( Post #95), but, IMHO, without QUOTING at least a portion of the " OFFENDER's" OP, there's no real CONNECTION for the " OFFENDER" to actually KNOW who we're referring to. To-date, his attempt also failed.
Patriot, would you please help me out here with some examples? TIA!
On the one hand, maybe the owners of this wonderful place don't care. And, on the other hand, see Post #1...
P.S. Yeah, I know - SHUT UP AND STOP WASTING EVERYONE'S TIME! But I also think about etiquette, courtesy, ' the way I was brought up', WASTED RESOURCES, etc... That's why I recently added the 2nd LINK to my Sig Line: How to Ask Questions " The Smart Way "
Thanks!

TTA... our esteemed Administrator, Empath, has a wonderful saying about "herding cats". Google it and do some reading. Perhaps then you will understand...

I GOOGLE'd " Herding cats - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia" and even before I read any LINKs, my first thoughts were: Cats do whatever THEY want to do, regardless. After I read one LINK, I thought of: The '80/20' Rule. BTW, is your NEW AVATAR an indicator to an upcoming PLAYBOY CENTERFOLD?

Curious, do you have a LAN at home? If yes, have you tried using your laptop to remote desktop into your faster desktop in the basement? That way you can still leverage the better speed and power of your desktop but have the convenience of a laptop.
I do this a lot at work (my development environment sits in a virtual machine running on a remote server in our datacenter, I use remote desktop to remotely connect to it so the servers do all the real processing and my laptop or desktop terminal acts simply as an I/O device) and it works just fine.

Hey Take,
Do yourself a favour and add in the following extension/plug-in to Firefox called " ImgLikeOpera".
For dialup users it is essential that images not be loaded automatically, and instead, have the user "right click" the image outline to "Load Image". You be amazed by how fast this vBulletin stuff works when you only stream in text.
...fast as broadband on dialup,
