How's The Weather There ?

Back in JAX. And with everything going on, I've not paid attention to the weather. Looks like we're not done with cold fronts yet. As an added bonus, it appears we're getting rain too.

Sadly, we're not going to be in ideal locations to enjoy it as much as we'd like this week.

Today feels….different. Though it’s only going to a high of 50F the sun is shining brightly and it feels much warmer. A perfect day to clean off my back patio and get the furniture in place (done). Now, as it continues to warm up, we have our place to enjoy it. Life is good.

In my area, there's a constant "hum" of birds twittering away in the branches. Lots of robins hopping around in the garden beds. All the trees are greening-up nicely, some still in bud but most seem about halfway full of leaves.

Even saw a couple of wasps, the other day. First clear sign of ground temperatures rising, as some of them are coming out of their winter burrows.

Temps are occasionally into the 70s, and a couple of days have even seen it get to the mid-80s. Not bad for early April.

Another nice day! Cleaned the garage ( still a bit to do) and got my bike out for a short ride.

73F with a strong breeze, so we had a nice relaxing dinner tonight at Tiki Docks in Riverview, outside.
Summer and mosquitoes are coming soon, so we're enjoying it as much as we can.

That’s what I love about the Northeast, summer is awesome without the excessive heat and bugs. We have a few but nothing like Florida. Them suckers are BIG too!

With the exception of NYC. Our Summers and Winters are both surprisingly brutal.
Spring, and Autumn lasts maybe 2 weeks; if we're lucky!

It looks like it's possible we'll finally have a longer spring this year. We'll see. I'm tired of going from 30s and 40s to 70s and 80s in a few weeks.

Worse, no one in NYC seems to know how to air conditioning properly!

During my time in NYC I unintentionally ended up doing some consulting up on how to do HVAC my way. I caught a lot of grief by the union guys, but the designs worked exactly as they should despite them grumbling the entire time about it. In a previous life I did HVAC equipment design for one of the major US HVAC manufacturers in my late teens.

Was trying to be optimistic & positive yesterday and turned off my thermostat for heat.
This morning it was 55F in the house, not bad.
Tomorrow morning likely be lower 50s' in my house, manageable.

Sunday we get into lower 70s' and I'll open windows to heat my house up __

They were incensed that I was "mismatching" equipment on the direct expansion systems. Down here in Florida I usually size the condensing unit to ~20-35% larger than the evaporator coil. I also tend to install more capacity, much larger ductwork, colder discharge temperatures, different locations for supply & return vents, etc. They griped every step of the way. The results spoke for themselves though.

My first reaction was, what an elitist thing to say. However, the more I thought about it, the more I was reminded that some people are a whole lot more intelligent than the rest of us.
