Any Streamlight Stinger/Strion Switchblade users here?

I have the Strion Switchblade, and really like it. I use it mostly for camping and it’s great in that role - but also really handy around the house. Happy to answer any questions if I can

    Glove box light

I’ve got a yellow Surefire G2X in my glovebox. Runs on 2xCR123A batteries, which should still be good whenever it’s needed - and two spare batteries in a holder next to the light. (Probably should upgrade to a Malkoff MD2 one of these days.)

What light(s) is in your pocket today?

    HDS Rotary 219B 4500k (NB45)

What flashlight do you keep in your vehicle?

Surefire yellow G2X, with two spare batteries. Long-lived lithium primaries means there is a good chance it will work in an emergency.

Hi there - Interested in this. I’m also in AU (Sydney) — could you please let me know what would the AUD price with express post be?

    The Malkoff Front Porch

The MDC Pocket Thrower? E2XTL on an 18650 MDC body does indeed look very fun. :)

What did you use your flashlight for today?

I do this as well (in Australia, though) - it’s part of the reason I carry a flashlight every day, particularly in winter. HDS’s “pulsating strobe” mode is great for pointing at the ground as you cross the road in the dark, to make you a bit more visible. It’s now the “C” preset on my EDC light...

Need recommendation for 1.5v rechargeable AA's

Eneloop is pretty much the industry standard, with a great reputation. Standard white ones seem to have a bit longer lifetime (in terms of charge cycles), and the black Pro ones trade that off for greater capacity.

    Malkoff MDC 2xAA review

FWIW, I use a VME head (with an M31L 219b) on a 1xCR123 body to achieve that outcome - close-to-MDC size, single-level light. It’s one of my favourite lights.

Inexpensive red flashlight for summers on the beach?

The Parametrek database is a great source for these kinds of questions. Here's a direct link for 1x18650 lights with red lights: link. The Convoy S2+ seems pretty popular, but I haven't used one so can't comment, sorry. It doesn't meet your "inexpensive" requirement, but if you're looking for...

    M61 219b 4000k vs M61N SST-20 4000k beamshots request

Okay - here's three beamshots, as requested. In the SST-20 flavour, I only had the M61NL, so used a M61L 219b so they'd be at the same power level. In each photo, the ML61L 219b is on the left and the ML61NL SST-20 is on the right. Hope that helps!

    M61 219b 4000k vs M61N SST-20 4000k beamshots request

Yes, I've got the M61 219b 4000k from illumn, and an M61NL SST-20. I'll take some beamshots tonight and post them in a follow-up. They're both great -- you can't go wrong with either. To my eyes, I somewhat prefer the 219b version. Unscientifically, it seems to skew a bit more pink where the...

recommendations for good (lithium maybe) rechargeable AA

What a great piece of recent radio history! Your best option is probably Eneloop AA batteries, in those 3AA-to-D adapters. Your Nitecore charger can recharge them, and they’ll give you decent runtime. There are similar batteries available as IKEA Ladda brand, as well as some of the major...

    The Malkoff Front Porch

Hey thanks for sharing this. I bought an E1HT to try it out too, and it's a fantastic little thing. I put it on a 1CR123 body, and it's both a decent thrower and tiny — small enough to disappear into a pocket. I was walking around in the city last night, and pointing it at skyscrapers: it was...
