    X4.5 solar flare

Oh, absolutely! And thanks! I developed the photos immediately afterwards, to be as close to the real thing as possible, albeit with a little more green visible due to the nature of camera sensors. The photos bring up the luminance quite a bit due to the long exposure, but they also blur the...

    X4.5 solar flare

We had enough torches to kit out my family and friends - we went up a local "mountain" (a high hill, really) where there are nearly 360º views, and watched from there. What an incredibly breathtaking display!!! The photos have nothing on the experience. The kids loved it, and I for one was...

Preview of future Police Car Chases?

Hey, I’ll back ‘the forum prophet’ any day. From my observation, @Hooked on Fenix is sensible and knowledgeable dude with a perspective to be respected, just like we all should for each other. @wacbzz, this isn’t a cross-examination with a murder conviction on the line, right? Let’s all be...

Extreme distance flashlights, what their use?

Most useful comment I’ve read on the internet in a long time. Thank you, @xxo ! There are applications for extreme long range lighting systems, but none are handheld, that I can bring to mind…

Wow, Chance, thanks for sharing. As we would say here down under, 'good on ya, mate'. My respects.

    Rechargable flashlights question.

This would be a key point, above. ^ Great replies thanks @Dave_H ! And welcome, @RCRVRP :)

What did you use your flashlight for today?

Nicely done, @MyUsernameTX . I did a similar thing yesterday - I used to have one of these I made ages ago, but it got “borrowed” by a fellow flashaholic, I think… It’s a Clipsal conduit mounting clip, with a small neodymium magnet screwed to the bottom. Holds a 1” / 25mm torch like a charm!

    there are some Jokes

One day, 50 politicians were flying across the country in an airplane when the plane started to experience mechanical problems. The plane crashed in a remote rural area. It took an several hours for the first police car to arrive at the scene. When he arrived, there was an old farmer sitting on...

    Oj bit the big one

Aaaaaand down she goes. Bye bye thread, bye bye online ‘friendships’. Instead of getting offended and tearing at each other, couldn’t we all just meet in person and have a good chat over a cuppa or a beer or something? Anything? :grin2:

    Oj bit the big one

Well. It is interesting in here. I'm at great risk of getting involved in internet debate…. but oh well, this is the Café, right? On OJ, I will say that directing hatred toward anyone, alive or not, is quite simply unhelpful at the very least. As wiser men than I have said above, let...

Legend! Good for you. Jobs that end like that are so satisfying!

Flashlight that auto turns on at power failure

Another vote here for the Foursevens. I have the “Flood“ version, which does not have the standby feature, but I can absolutely vouch for the value and quality of the light. Just buy one, you won’t regret it! :)

Hand Held Spot Light Recommendation for Helicopter Operations

I agree with @PaladinNO , tread carefully when recommending lights for professional use, particularly for aviation etc. where “critical” is a word not lightly used. :) @zak761 more maximum lumens is better, because it increases your runtime and reliability when run at lower brightnesses. The...
