Been using HDS rotaries and clicky's as primary EDC's for over 10 years and never heard of an issue like this.. Hopefully the problem gets resolved soon.
Another advantage to the vinyl cap I've been experimenting with in addition to head drop protection is it also recesses the button further basically eliminating any chance of accidental activation.
There's an o-ring between the cap lip and light rim for added shock absorbtion..
