What's your favorite light in 2011 and why?

It was released late last year so not sure if it really counts, but I am a fan of the TrustFire X6. Truly beautifully built and very bright.

Vastly underrated too - if it cost 4x as much and had a SureFire label on it, I bet it would have received much more attention.
 
Arrrgh, so many choices. I will have to break it down.

Instant Favorite: HDS High CRI flush tailcap, no anno. just a real workhorse, unbreakable, and one of my favorite pocket lights. I tried a 170, but wasn't impressed by the beam at all. Yeah it was bright, but it was too narrow to be used as an EDC, and not narrow enough (throwy enough) to be used for looking down pipes etc (unlike say... the Nitecore SR3)

Newest favorite: D11.2 --> first piston drive (and first 1xAA) and I just love it. its a very different feel to a light, and i'm glad I waited till now, apparently they got this one right. I may have to go out and get an EX11.2

Favorite light that makes me giggle everytime I turn it on: SF 6P with extender, running 2x17500's and a modoo tripple in NW. Just fantastic backyard sweeper
 
XM-L baby!

We're in flashlight nirvana these days, aren't we friends!

Today I'm really liking the SC51w for indoors, the Thrunight 1A Neutron neutral tint XM-L for indoors and outside, and the TK35 for the great outdoors. If I had to pick one, it would be between the XM-L lights. This emitter has really done some wonderful things for our hobby. I'd say the TK35 for what it does outdoors and the Thrunight 1A neutral tint XM-L for what it does in general. Awesome lights.

Now I'm waiting for an SC600 neutral which, no doubt, will be a stunning light.

Life is very, very good.

Indeed -- all hail the XM-L! The most over-the-top thing in my collection is an Elektrolumens Big Bruiser, a direct-drive triple XM-L powered by a single LiMnNi 26650 at 9 amps sustained. Close to 3000 emitter lumens, and I measure 2300-2500 OTF. It's like turning on a 300W halogen. Unreal.

And like you, DHart, they will pry my Neutron from my toasty warm dead fingers.

ok, situation improved - my new favourite light of 2011 is my newly-acquired zebralight sc51 =D i've been evangelising about it any chance i get. my experience with lights is fairly limited tbh, so i don't have a lot to compare it to, but i can't imagine there being a better single-AA edc light (for me). outstanding highest (especially for single AA) and lowest settings (sub-1-lumen), great ui, small enough to go in jeans pocket, wins on all counts =)
 
Approximately two weeks ago I obtained a ZebraLight SC600. Hands down that gem was my favorite light in 2011....until my HDS Rotary arrived last Friday. Yes, I drank the HDS Kool-Aid and designate my new Rotary as my favorite light for 2011. There are enough threads dedicated to HDS lights so I won't repeat the well deserved accolades here. It's a work of art. But the SC600 is a very worthy runner-up and I'm keeping both!
 
What a tough question and so many great options that people have posted…thank you. The one I keep coming back to is a McGizmo mule with a modified Luxeon MZ pill. Great color rendering, super compact and about as far as my limited eye sight can use. Look forward to seeing what everyone shares.

In 2011, I would have said my Fenix E01... 10 years later and it's still my (second) favorite flashlight, and still on my keys, with the same Eneloop, and both are work perfectly.
Same for several others I purchased as gifts, still on their keychains, with the same Eneloop.

I can see why Fenix had to discontinue the E01, as people by once and never need to buy again. So they switched to the Apple business model.
 
the Jetbeam TCR-1 on the left, is from 2011, upgraded to 219b 4500k sw45k. By far my favorite of all lights, because of the stepless rotary UI.

The Lumintop TiTool AAA on the right, is from 2016, upgraded to 219b 3500k. Its the EDC I forget Im carrying, because it is so LIGHT.. lol

Favorite light of 2011? - probably the Maglite ML125.
