This light has not been very good since I bought it. I had bought an aftermarket battery, and I don't think it was very good as it never was as bright as I felt it should've been. Last year that battery went bad, and it's been sitting there unused. I was feeling kind of cheeky, and I built this battery for it. 2x 21700 5000mah protected cells. I really thought the bulb was gonna pop as I just tried it with them freshly charged. The bulb is very white, and very bright, but it did turn on. I reused the negative cap from the NiCd battery, and used a piece of solder braid to go from there to the negative of the bottom cell. Then I cut a piece of half inch PEX waterline as a spacer. Works pretty good. No rattle. Unfortunately I could not get magnets to stick well to the negative ring, which means I'm gonna have to take this thing apart every time I wanna charge it

540 lumens. Holy crap. Ya I'm overdriving it pretty hard. Popped 2 bulbs. But one was black with use, and the other I don't know the hours. A new bulb did one turn on and I could take a reading. We'll see. But I doubt this will actually be a viable battery solution. Too much over voltage. I'm using 25A CDR 21700s so I bet I'm giving that 6v bulb at least a full 8V

I think "fivemega" made tube for the stinger and Ultrastinger.

Nice. Yeah he may have at one point but definitely not anymore. I'll do something up on the 3-D printer this was just temporary. But I think I'm gonna have to switch over to some LFP cells. This is the whitest incandescent I've ever seen, it's right at instaflash territory it will not last
 
Use inrush current limiter, for soft start and longer life, I have installed one in my mag85, it fits right in the tailcap of the mag. but with US you seem to have some extra room in the tube, so putting one in series with the bulb should not be hard. Get one that is 1 ohm or lower.

Well I ordered some lfp cells and I'll make another battery. This'll overdrive a bit but not nearly so much.

I presume you're talking about an NTC. One of those would help for inrush, but still won't help once it's running. It's still too much voltage. I'd need a regulator if I wanted to keep using these cells but have bulb life

Also I'm not sure how I'd do it. While the light may have more room, the bulb gets its negative from the top of the battery. So even less room than normal
 
Ultrastinger battery 2.0. Went with soshine lfp 18650s this time. A much more reasonable 260 lumens. CCT about 3300k

Could you link that? What is it? Just a battery sleeve or is it an 18650 adapter or something?
It's a complete 2x18650 kit to fit in standard Stinger to power TL-3 bulb.
I also have 3x18650 version but in chrome plated.

Streamlight's dirty secret: The US incan bulb was a 5volt bulb. SL used them for the higher output with the 5 cell, 1.2volt per cell battery stick. Under load, the output voltage is about 5.5 volts. I haven't played around with incan Stingers in a long time, but I may still have the actual build and maintenance manuals I used to use different bulbs, custom battery sticks, etc.

Interesting. Sometimes already overdrive a bit. I'm feeding it 6.4v currently. It's a nice output. The beam isn't the best fully focused, so I put a dime sized piece of dc-fix over the center of the lens. Cleaned up a but but still thing thing outthrows all my other incans. Or at least it's the most intense in the center of the beam.
 
I was checking old stuffs and find out complete flashlight of 3x18500 and 2" UltraStinger head and WA1331 bulb. It,s white and bright but for long run time you will need to change the plastic lens.
