Mystery Nordic Knife ( from China )

No name / brand Nordic / Scandi knife .
Blade steel - Is it DC53 or is it 14c28n ? ( Or are both options pure fantasy ? )
Yeah , I went with the Bling grips for this one ............... and that might have been a mistake ! The grips are smooth ( really smooth ) , ...... and with a working ( bushcrafty ) knife what you might actually want is a grip that is .............. more fixed without Gorilla Grip 2020 . Yes , this knife is hard to hold due to the slippery nature of the smooth grips . Though , if it's important ? The grips were blended to the knife flawlessly ! ( if that matters ) .

Sheath - Wow , a really well made sheath with a ferro rod loop . One would have to spend at the very least 30 bananas to buy a sheath of this quality ! A very impressive sheath !

Blade - Mystery Steel Scandi with a Micro Bevel . I don't normally test factory edges COS they are mostly bad ! ( My experience ) . Butt , I thought I may as well see how it is with this one . ( 73 bananas after all ) . Edge retention was terrible ! A 100 slice fail where the edge just went away . On the good side , the knife slices wood like a bushcrafty knife should . The spine is factory CRISP and scrapes wood like a champ ! Also really rips into the ferro rod . Only issue with starting a fire was the evening breeze which just kept either throwing all the wood chips out of the iron skillet , or blowing out the fire . ( The Wind ) .

Re Sharpened - Spent some time re sharpening the ? knife full scandi ! Factory grind was better than I am used to , usually there is a lot of correction required . This time all I needed to do was sharpen the knife as best as one could . It's full scandi , it's sharp . Unfortunately , that's it for today . The re sharpened knife will have to wait for another day !

I don’t know why it is that scandi’s can be so far out, I suppose it’s just more noticeable because of the amount of steel you have to remove. Thanks for the review, it makes the Focuser Outdoor scandi a way better knife, although this one looks great. Love that spine. I do find scandi’s harder to do feather sticks.

Feather sticking gum , especially older harder dryer gum can be ? ...
The gum I have is very corrugated because I scrape it with the spine making corrugations ( scrapping against the grain )
This one in the video is horrendously corrugated , but generally I find scandi easy to feather .
Just depends on the wood grain , if you catch the grain the scandi can dig hard .
Europe / USA , northern Earth is full of soft woods that feather well . We have lots of Gum .

I guess one could go to Bunnings and buy some pine (?) .......... Would you go to all that trouble ?
U go for a walk and pick up some free Gum that the wind blows down .. Bob's U'r Uncle !

Part 2 - Re Sharpened Full Scandi

Yes , full scandi ! On the rope the apex .... deformed @ 300 slices and did a Quick N Dirty wood strop back to slicing paper !
I made no attempt to micro convex the apex , just a normal full scandi with a reasonable effort put into burrrrrr removal !
300 is .................. normal ! ( Full scandi ) I guess my wallet has no reason to cry me a river !
HRC - I did check HRC and it's = 60/55HRC ( 60HRC file bites / 55HRC file skates ) If the blade steel is 14c28n then harder would have been better !
