What did you use your flashlight for today?

Last night I used my T2 (519A 5000K) at 35%-ish power to light up a way through a somewhat dark street to where I'd parked my car. It was not the safest part of town, so it was mostly as an "I'm aware of what goes on around me, find some other actually distracted schmuck" deterrent than an...

    Who Is A Fan: Rosy

Oh yeah, I know what you mean when you mention these hallucinated reflexes. One time teenager me was pulling an all-nighter in the cram course I used to attend, and I collapsed from sleep and woke myself up yelling about building a barrage. 😂 And yes, I defend that the 6500K B35AM matches that...

    Who Is A Fan: Rosy

For the trippiest experience you can have, order the cheapest Convoy you can with the B35AM in 6500K. (Normally that's the S2+ or S15 , but the S21G has been pretty cheap lately.) It has a cooler beam than 6500K and definitely bluish and uncanny, but nothing is washed out. You see literally...

    Who Is A Fan: Rosy

Yes. I can take neutral or negative duv, but I'm firmly on Team Anti-Green. Every light of mine with a positive duv has been gifted away or sold. My rosiest light is a Convoy S21B with a dedomed 519A 4000K, that I operated on because the original domed emitter was kinda on the positive duv side...

What did you use your flashlight for today?

I always carry and store my side-button lights with the tailcap unscrewed. I had one accidental activation of an S21E and that was enough. It only has a B35AM and a 2.2A driver, but even so my leg got HOT. I don't wanna imagine the actual damage if it was, say, an FC40 or SFT70 of my other...

What did you use your flashlight for today?

Busy night yesterday for flashlight use. I had an Olight S2 Baton that I kept as a kitchen light, but with all the Convoys I carry around it barely ever saw any use. So yesterday I gave it to my elder brother. He has an old S1 Baton I gifted him years back, but the 16340 in it shorted out and...

What was the last LED light you purchased and why?

Yes, there's no misunderstanding. Minimum wage here is US$200 a month and economy scales accordingly. My regular annual income is less than US$15K. It doesn't translate directly into currency, but in terms of PPP it might as well be $200-ish for a yank. I saw the part on shipping and could get...

What was the last LED light you purchased and why?

I checked out intl-outdoor. Unfortunately currency exchanges and taxes mean one of my purchases for a budget light equals a Surefire/Modlite/HDS purchase for most of this forum. 45 dollars for a D4K (without battery) plus shipping is not within my price range.

What did you use your flashlight for today?

Felt nostalgic for The Screecher, an official mod for Don't Starve - yes, official, it was made by Klei themselves - and sort of a "flashlight simulator". To get into the mood, I picked up my Convoy T7 2700K and set up my bedroom so that it was my only light source. It's on the small side, but...

I dont have a problem, I can stop any time I want to. How about you?

Oh I don't kid myself, I do know for a fact that I have a problem 😅 Instead of denying facts, I reality check myself. I set my sights on the new light and plan according to my financial situation and save for months if needed before I hit that final "complete transaction" button. If I have the...

What was the last LED light you purchased and why?

Haven't pulled the trigger yet, but I'm planning to: an M26D running the SFT70 4000K. A few reasons: 1. I'm really bit by the 4000-4500K CCTs as great around-the-clock color temperature, unlike cool white that is too harsh at night or warm white that's barely usable during the day. And the...

Which discontinued flashlights do you wish were still made?

The Fenix TK45 "Gatling chain-light". (thumbnail, click to expand) It was a fun gimmicky form factor, especially the "cycling" emitters when you used Eco mode. The handle size would fit a 46800 battery with barely any modifications. With a high-power emitter like the SFT60 or LHP531 or even...

What did you use your flashlight for today?

Stuck my SC13 to the convection oven's door to light up the inside of the blender cup. Last time, some pieces of a whole frozen banana didn't blend right and stuck to the wall of the blender cup, but this time slicing them into thinner wheels worked much better. The SC13's beam helped me see it...

What was the last LED light you purchased and why?

Got me a second Sofirn SC13. Import taxes here have dropped significantly, so it was at like 2/3rds of the price it used to go for. I had to snap up a green one. It's just a fantastic little torch.

What did you use your flashlight for today?

Currently using the M21F with diffuser as a desk lamp. The M21H I typically use is currently charging.

    Convoy flashlight opinions?

Oh yes, don't get me wrong, I'm not dissing anyone's use case. Just adding my two cents to the fountain, so to speak. Related, but aye, I get not wanting or needing any B35AM lights. It's not a powerful emitter, it has atrocious heatsinking, and a slew of other problems that, say, the SFT70 or...

    Convoy flashlight opinions?

I said before, but both of mine are B35AM. I used to use OP reflectors on them, but after I switched to 15º matte and 20º beaded TIRs for the 3000K and 5700K respectively, I've found myself using them a whole lot more. Incredibly pleasant smooth beams, and useful outdoors too. NOTE: Those...

What did you use your flashlight for today?

Went on another dog walk with my brother and his pug yesterday evening. The tan S2+ (519A 5700K) I was carrying on about 10% power was fantastic for lighting up the unpaved road ahead of us and avoid any patches of soft mud from the rain of the previous night. Actual water puddles are obvious...

    Convoy flashlight opinions?

In my experience, the 15º and 20º beaded TIRs have changed the game for me. The B35AM works beautifully with them.
