    What batteries are you using? With Eneloops, I get around 5/25/200 lumens, which is pretty good mode spacing to me. With L91's though it's like 25/50/200 lumens which is not good, IMO. I have the SST-20 4000K version FYI.

    Neither of those things seem that surprising. The battery has a circuit for altering the voltage so it's not that surprising a regular external charger won't work. And the M31 pulls 1.3A, while the battery is rated at 1Ah. So you'd expect it to be dead after 46 minutes based on that math...

    I just tested my M31W with an Eneloop. It is ~50 lumens. It's possible a fresh alkaline or L91 would be higher since the voltage is a bit higher. (Edit: I tried a not-fresh-but-not-bad L91 and it's ~65 lumens. So it would vary based on what battery you tried. Even a fresh-off-the-charger...
