    Best loaner/gift lights under $15

I gave a Wurkkos FC11 to my brother as a birthday gift last month. I think something like that with integrated charging and decent cell included is a reasonable compromise. But for the most part I agree.

    Wurkkos FC12

Very nice. Thank you for your thoughts. I love my FC11 and think it perfectly represents how far budget lights have come. I may have to pick one of these up too :).

    WTB Zebralight H52w

This may be a bit of a longshot. A few months ago mine was regrettably stolen. I am about to buy the H53c to replace it, but would like to give another shot at this. I am nostalgic for it, and like the 14500 capability. If you have one you are looking to move I am very interested.

    Best loaner/gift lights under $15

Thrunite has a 10 pack of the Ti2 on their website for $29.99. Very small, built well enough, runs on a AAA, single mode. I couldn't think of a more perfect thing to gift, and you don't have to worry about explaining modes. The Sofirn C01/C01s would be a great option as well.

    Spyderco 'Salt' series folding knives

I've had a Dragonfly 2 Salt for a year and a half and it's been awesome. Cleaned it once after dropping it in mud, and run water through it after a day near the ocean. Other than that it looks new other than some dirt in the handle and a scratch on the blade (my fault not the knife's)

    Why carry two EDC knives?

Victorinox Cadet always on me. I'm on a college campus where most people aren't knife people. But I have another folder for when I'm with cool people (often larger, but a Dragonfly if I'm in gym shorts.)

    Surefire 6P and 18650s

I'm surprised by the recommendation to avoid boring, that seemed like the thing to do from my reading. With that in mind, I only have 18650s, and do not know much of anything about 16650 or 17670 batteries. Are there recommendations similar to those for 18650s (ie maximum capacity that I should...

Rayovac Indestructible 2xAA as a GREAT little $15 P60 Host!!

That's awesome. I'm thinking I'm going to have to put together a sleeper Malkoff like that.

    Is Surefire done with incandescents?

Well then I'm glad I got my new one when I did. Price was too low for that not to be the case. At least now I won't feel as bad about using my first one so much.

    Surefire 6P and 18650s

Hey everyone. I just bought a new Surefire 6P for $28, so I've decided to bore my old one out to accept 18650s. Are there clearance issues I should be aware of, or will any reputable (based on Panasonic or other quality cell) 18650 do the trick?

    Best 2xAA Light

I only have one at the moment (Fenix LD22) and it's a good light. Mine's an older version with an XPG-R5 (190 Lumens max,) so the newer ones will be brighter on max I assume. Mine has a good mix of flood and throw, and has really good runtimes on Eneloops (that's all I've tried it with.) I can't...

    Good gift light?

Didn't even know that existed! Thanks so much for the suggestion, I like it a lot. I may have to get a few extra for myself too.

    Good gift light?

Maybe should go in Recommend (I honestly don't know.) I'm thinking of getting some lights for a few friends at college at the end of the year. I'm thinking of a NC Tube or SK-68 type of budget (I'm not made of money.) I only have one sample of the tube (which has been good,) but have had some...

    Durable AAA light

E01 is known for its durability, so that would be a good choice. I also have quite a few SL Microstreams and Stylus Pros (2AAA version of the MS) that have been thrown around a lot and work with no issues. I own a Microstream that was left in a lake for a couple days, and it works fine. Peaks...

Is it getting harder to impress non-Flashaholics?

Pretty much exactly what happens in my circle of friends too. Just wait until they see what I make when I get cleared to use the metal shop:devil:

Where would our hobby be without the internet?

As a kid I remember seeing Mag, SF and SL in stores. Didn't really hear about other brands until much later when I did research on backpacking gear. The internet has provided companies in a lot of fields (including flashlights) the benefit of fast feedback from communities who know a lot about...

What lights do you sacrifice for your car, garage or shed duty ?

There have always been old Maglites (upgraded by me) in the basement. Finally convinced the parents to put lights in cars :grin2:. Rayovac Indestructible 2AA with Lithium Primaries in both. Thinking I'll throw a Nitecore Tube in both cars as a belated holiday gift before I return to school.

    Slim Ni-MH Cells?

Thank you everyone for the good ideas. I will be sure to try them out when I return to school.
