    You can def run what you brung....one thing about the hobby/sport is that everyone is very nice and most will let you shoot their stuff. You may not get scored, but showing up is all it takes. I shoot USPSA and IDPA, plus unaffiliated matches like what the snubbie revolver matches...

    It's still funny to me that you have to crank it up to 20/24 steps on a 200 lumen light to reach 40 lumens. It's a great light, just unique.

    What is the brightest 2AA flashlight?

    XHP70.3 is a 6v or 12v LED. Maybe I'll build one to test if my 6v drivers can hit 800 lumens with 2 1.2v eneloops. I haven't looked at the XHP70.3 data sheet, but my guess is it won't even power a 6v driver for a usable time, if at all. There's far better tools for the job.

    800 lumens off 3v of battery is just not happening. It may be advertised as 800 but it's probably closer to 400 But to answer your question: a 2x14500 with a FET driver and a 7070 foot print LED will be the brightest possible. I suppose technically a SBT90.2 which is a 9090 footprint would...

    It's still a high-quality light. Jetbeam is a very reputable maker. If you want a $50 USA AA light then check out the Peak LEd El Capitan made from start to finish by one person in Arizona that does the machining and builds the driver.

    The new MDC XP-L multi mode head that gets to 800-900 lumens is where it's at. I'm just not a Bodyguard user...I'm a multi-mode soft-user. If I need a light like the Bodyguard then I take a 21700 pocketable light I built with a SBT90.2 single mode that puts out around 4,000 lumens.

    Completely different light. Read about the bodyguard again. After 8 seconds it drops down to 200 lumens. I’ve never understood the purpose of the bodyguard.
