BugOutGear q5 ?

I would hesitate to call AW protected rechargeables faulty. My BOG runs fine on either 3 primaries in my 9P, or on two AW protected 3.7v cells in my 6PD.

BTW...I am on my way out the door to do some outdoor beam comparison shots. I'll have them up in a little while.

I would run it on 3 - CR123 3V batteries first(in your case). We run all our demos on primaries and never had one fail. For some strange reason the ones that do fail (although not that often) are from customers using rechargeables. I think this is in part due to either faulty rechargeables or low quality batteries. Then again, we have customers that use them with rechargeables daily w/o any problems.

OK. Finally got the outdoor shots done. All shot at the same settings. Distance is about 30 ft.

2. WE Q2 LED 190 Lumens

Ok putting the niceities aside. I run the WE 190 lumen led bulb which is rated at 3 to 6 volts with the same set up of 8.4 max with WE 2x 17500.
I have two volt meters which I humoruosly check for accuracy and they both register the same voltage at 8.4 fresh off the charger using the same 17500's. The WE still work and I wouldnt mind if they failed despite my mistake. but they still do as compared to BOG which is rated up to nine volts,
and didnt survive and now with your preferences that I use primarys that has an initial voltage of 3.23.v which would equal around 9.6V does not make sense in the way you describe its "initiation".. why should I bother? in a way like everything is a gamble I can accept my losses. Did you actually need an osccilloscpe to find out whats the matter? and blame the batteries or myself without adequate warnings?
Your shipping department did a bang up job of not even isolating the spring from the unit, wherin scratching of the reflector or the led element was inevitable. So much for quality control. I think we all choose Leds' for its reliability and not for sensitivity as per your requirements.

Hi Jvalera. Are you saying that you use 2 rechargeables @ 8.4v with the WE Q2 190 lumen LED with no problems? If that is true, then I should be able to use 2x rcr123a's @ 8.4v with mine in my G2L with no problems. That would be great, as I like using the AW rechargeable cells. Please let me know if I am understanding this properly. Thanks.

I think it works but wait for him to answer and back me up before you do it to yours. Course there are 2 different input tolerences to the WE drop in's on model for 3.7-6 and one for 3.7-13. 3.7-6 being optimized for use on a 17670 and 18650 cell and what I use.

Maybe you misunderstood my point of running primaries first. I suggested you do this to make sure there wasn't anything wrong with your rechargeable batteries and for some odd reason they were putting out >9V. I suggested this so you wouldn't blow your replacement module for a second time if this was the case.

We already agreed to replace your module so I'm not sure what the hostility is all about. I was just trying to be helpful in diagnosing your problem.

We do have warnings that are listed on our website under the product description when ordering. They clearly state that the input voltage is 4.5-9V. Your disregard for voltage limitations on the WE products is your prerogative so good luck. Once your return is received we will send out a replacement.

Merry Christmas,

Flavio,

Don't get down on yourself. I see the above situation as your willingness to step up to the plate, very promptly and willingly, to rectify a problem that may or may not have even been an manufacturing issue at all. All to often anymore here at CPF, folks... mostly newer members unfortunately... don't seem to understand that this forum was created to share information, push the envelope, and furthering a very cutting edge technology. If a module burns out, a board gets fried, an emitter emits magic smoke, for whatever reason, its all part of the game. If you can't accept that, buy a Mag-Lite. Its obvious from your willingness to replace Mr. Jvalera's damaged module, you understand what this community is all about. For the others, an important lesson can be learned..... All of this could have been easily rectified with a simple PM or email and without the distracting, negative tone.

I suppose for some individuals its just easier to trash and complain rather than constructively evaluate the situation for a solution. How many Titan threads were closed because people couldn't maintain decorum over a simple issue such as price? :shakehead

Keep your chin up Flavio, you did the right thing even though it may not be appreciated by all.

Well lets see .. Got the SF-M2 + 1 detonator extender + 2 X WE 17500's
topping off at 4.22V each,+ WE single stage 3v-6v 190 lumen bulb. Yes it still works. I accidentally left it in the bezel thinking that I still had Lighthound's drop in Cree. I left it on for awhile during a stove installation. Afterwards gee this LH drop in is quite bright then what more If I used the WE ? When I realized my mistake I switched it back but this time the BOG
Q5 came in and I was quite happy since I got my voltages right. I was about to get a 6p to accomodate the WE since it was for 6v,but when
the Q5 acted up I just put back the 190 WE in the M2. Still works but
for how long is unknown. Ill let you know when it dies.

I didnt mean to be hostile or berate anybody and do apologize If my tone is harsh. I should limit my mind from thinking loudly.

I apologize for sounding harsh or hostile as I never meant to be.
First , I dont have a problem. the q5 unit does.
Second, I appreciate your sincerity and concern.
Lastly I just find it contrary that 3 new primarys start at a higher voltage
than 9 volts which the bulb cautions against. now if there are stability
issues regarding Overvoltage with rechageables that happens after running them for a short period then I probably missed that information
if it was ever discussed or mentioned in this forum. Anyway thanks for the
replacement when it arrives. Happy Holidays.

I hope I wasn't being rude either. I said I was unimpressed. BUT I also said I may have been expecting too much. I do know the reason my friend and I decided to buy from Flavio was/is his guarantee. Anybody who'll stand behind a product the way he does deserves business.
