Inova + Nite Ize = No Warranty

Has anyone looked recently at the Nite Ize "lifetime warranty" statement? (I am not making this up) It refers to the lifetime of the flashlight based upon their assessment of how long a flashlight "should" last with the boundary that they will never claim a lifetime of less than two years. I mean I understand if it were a lifetime warranty on a Gerbil but otherwise I am a bit confused. I think most people regard a "lifetime" warranty as minimally a perpetual warranty to the original purchaser. The breadth of the warranty may be in question but not, typically, the duration.

L.L. Bean has a reputation of taking back any product you buy from them and offering a replacement if you are EVER unhappy with ANY aspect of the original purchase. While I am sure that every day some crank demands a new pair of boots 15 years after purchase when the sole wears through, I suspect L.L. Bean benefits from the fact that most people are reasonable.

I bet if Nite Ize decided to do something reasonable in this case they would be rewarded by reasonable people choosing to purchase their products. Just a thought.

Sure, gerbils manufactured in a US factory maybe. Anyway, I gotta run. My grocer is offering 1% milk in half gallon containers with a lifetime warranty. Now there's a dairy product you can trust :nana:

Had to jump back in this almost 2 year old thread today to see if anything changed. Still no nice comments about Nite Ize / Inova... Too bad - I was hoping they had a change of heart.

They were showing off some new lights at last month's SHOT Show, including a little AAA light called the XS (http://cdn.shopify.com/s/files/1/0032/5752/files/Nite_Ize_INOVA_XS_Press_Release_012012.pdf). I always liked the styling of my X1s, so I thought about getting one of these. Then I remembered this thread and the warnings... :shakehead

I am still using Inova lights, including the current Chinese made 55/6 lumen Inova X1. Haven't had to use warranty service since the product line was bought by Nite Ize.

The new 1AAA Inova XS looks interesting.
