Surefire, Finally!

Beam_KX1.jpg

You Rock! this is my first time see new KL1 beamshot, thanks alot. I can't wait mine.

I got this one, PK logo marked, July 1 from PK at the Surefir Fan Meeting in my country.
At that time I also saw New E1L, L1, P6L and G2L etc..
PK said SF will release the 'Drop in Module using SSC P4' for P6 and G2.

Nothing stopping them from coming out with a U2 replacement eventually. The SSC P4 caught them by surprise. Seems like they are catching up.

So you're saying that SureFire has been caught by surprised by Seoul SemiConductor (SCC) and it's P4 LED?
On what basis do you presume this to have been the case?
I suggest that the opposite is the case. SureFire is using SSC LEDs in its highest profile products.

Al or ROK or anybody who knows -

I'm not exactly sure how to word the question so I'll tell you what I'm looking for and then try to word the question. I've got a 6P with a KL3 on it that works very well for some tasks. I'd like it to have a SSC in it and have a barrel that supports Roger's grip.

I could engage a modder for the SSC and track down a Z or M light or I could wait to see what Surefire comes out with that incorporates the design elements I'm looking for. The TIR optic or similar is a must for this application.

What's new on the horizon for a solution? Do you know if the "'Drop in Module using SSC P4' for P6 and G2" will use a TIR?

Thanks

- Jeff

No it's a reflector based Drop in Module.
And PK said SF will use optic for CREE and reflector for SSC.

The 'high profile' lights I speak of are the Titan, G2L and 6PL.

It seems the penny has not quite dropped so lets spell it out.

Photos posted online of the SureFire Fan event on 1st July 2007 confirm the following:
The G2L and 6PL are LED versions of the G2 and 6P.
They feature the same LED Lamp Assembly (the new P60L) which has a SSC LED in a reflector.

ROK is correct, SureFire prefer to use SSC LEDs in reflectors, and Cree XR-E LEDs behind TIR optics.

You can use the P60L in any SureFire you would use a P60 in powered by two SF123A batteries.
Note that I don't care about aftermarket rechargeable alternatives so people will have to experiment for themselves.

Jeff (Icebreak),
Why specifically do you require an LED light featuring a TIR bezel?
Are you needing to cut through muzzle blast, smoke etc?
My suggestion would be get a G2L and use it's P60L Lamp Module in a SureFire CombatLight (G2Z, Z2, C2, M2).

Al :)

The MSRP on the 6PL is $85 and the G2L is $65. But with discounts from dealers that us CPFers' get, we'll get it for a bit less...can't wait for that G2L...got a UCL sitting here just waiting for it...

Also, that pic of the E1L beamshot looks like its pumping out more than 30 lumens -probably 40+, which is typical for Surefire (I don't know why they always sell themselves short in that regard) and it gives me hope that the E2L is more like 55-60 real world lumens and that an E1L with a 3.7v RCR will bump up to the E2Ls' output. I certainly hope thats' the case....

Its here!! Well its at Opticshq.com anyway. Mike just posted that the lights are in stock and being packaged right now. He has a thread at the MP in the dealers section with more info. I can't wait for the email saying it shipped out with my tracking number.

Make sure you post some pics and beamshots! The dang holiday is gonna slow everything down a day though...blah.
