These showed up at Home Depot recently and they look kind of interesting. They require the fixture to be required to bypass the ballast so they contain their own driver that runs directly off the incoming AC. They come in 3500k, 4000k and 5000k. I'm thinking of trying out the 4000k version.

And the manufacturer is based in Michigan, another plus.

I have been eyeballing those for a while. I have 4 of those fixtures in my house. I think you have to take out the ballast and put in a shunt? I haven't read on them in a while. Seems rather easy.

I need my light to be at least 85-90CRI. I do not know, 83 might be a little too low for me.

I could be completely wrong here, I am just saying this from experience from the LED lighting I have seen or tested, it's not like I have an 80CRI to compare to an 85CRI emitter, all other factors like color temperature being held constant.
