Re: Pre-payment for the HAIII black SF-III.

If this light is just like the Original design in length, I would be interested in this run.

Re: Pre-payment for the HAIII black SF-III.

In order to stop the confusion, I am thinking about making both designs, the longer version and shorter version. The tailcap for the shorter version will use the original switch and tailcap just like the run that recently finished. The tailcap for the longer version will come with the McClicky and the pre-pay price will be a bit more than the shorter version as there will be more masking required as well as more material and labor involved. I need 24 hours to make some changes on the first page and will put up the pre-pay price of the longer version SF-III. All in all only 16pcs of the shorter version and 16 pcs of the longer version will be made. 8pcs combat grip and 8pcs standard grip. I apologize for the confusion.

Here are pictures of the SF-III from the earlier run to give you an idea of what it looks like. You'll have to temporarily use your imagination to make out the SF-III in HA III black :)

Mike, I saw these posted pictures and your quote to imagine it in black.. and got in line for this special run.

So I would like mine to be what you have describe above in combat grip. The exact one pictured, only in a cool black HA III and Ti bezel :)

Anti-roll tailcap are very functional but from design point of view its making the combat grip to 'busy'.

Would you be able to separate the older version special run in another thread? It will certainly clear things up I believe.

Re: Pre-payment for the HAIII black SF-III.

Going back to the drawing board, I have decided to keep this thread the way it started by offering the shorter version of the HA III black SF-III's with titanium bezels to prevent further confusion. For the older design of the 3pc body, I will put up a separate pre-pay thread as a few people sent me a PM that they insisted on having a 3pc older design. I should be getting a quote from TNC within the next 24 hours and will decide whether to make the 3pc design in all titanium or aluminum. I apologize to those I have confused as it was not my intention. I get PM's and e-mail from people hitting me up to make both designs if this is going to be the last of the SF-III series.

just wanted to say that this SF-III with Ostar SMT led seriously kicks out some masive light. Im getting more and more happy for it everytime i use it. Sometime the beam is just too bright to use in the park, kinda like blinds me when using close/medium range.

I've been wondering about brass - other than weight - what would be any other disadvantages?? - it would be cheaper to make than Ti - dissipate heat better - not need any coatings - look nice if you want to keep it polished.

for me it is perfect in every way, has heft, beauty and functionality. Ti is scratchy and Brass just spins. easier to machine as well.

Re: Pre-payment for the HAIII black SF-III.

Brass reacts to the sweat of your hands and gets ugly, oxydation I suppose. I think that this process also developps a metallic smell. I have no brass lights or other objects, so you may correct me, if I'm wrong.

Polishing the light surely works to keep it shiny, it looks very nice indeed. I just wonder about aggressive knurling, I don't think you can polish that successfully.

In another thread, they also talked about different materials and got crazy : Carbon fiber, sterling silver, gold, platinum, depleted uranium... :shakehead

I like titanium because you can give it different finishes, it needs no care, feels great on skin contact and doesn't react to anything. I like stainless steel as well, but it's too heavy for big lights, AAA format is OK, I have one AA (Jetbeam Element E3P) which is already quite heavy.

the Patina has a quality of its own to some, adds character i suppose, Brass is used on ships for its beauty and functionality as well. Blindfolded i can tell if i have a brass light in my hands. Having a metal that under achieves in heat dissipation to house a heat emitting led is just crazy as far as i am concerned so for me its aluminum or Brass.:twothumbs

I think I'll be staying on the sidelines for this one a little longer and see how it pans out!
