Earlier this evening I saw a BlackShadow Flashlights banner here on CPF.
Never heard of it before.
Looked at there webpage. Started 2011.
The city in China sounded familiar and the lights had some Niteye similaritys.
Anybody that has seen this brand before?

I have the Blackshadow Rook from CNQ. Pretty neat nights. Budget borderline.

They look a lot like SkyRay lights, which are well received themselves.

Interesting naming convention :)

I don't use it enough to know but seems ok. I have an branded Skyray King as well but it's "technically" not a Blackshadow...

Thanks for the info.
Got curious since I hadn't seen it before, but it doesn't look like anything I will buy.

I find it interesting that they are in Shenzen, and they use the same "Magnetic Control Ring" system that is apparently Patented by Sunwayman, who also is HQ'd in Shenzen. Does that strike anyone else as odd?

Not really. Shenzhen is a city of some 10 million people, in China's first, and one of the most successful, Special Economic Zones. Many flashlight companies are based there, so I wouldn't leap to the conclusion that 2 + 2 = 5.

I think the design of this three 123 lithium battery light is a great idea; I never liked the 'long stick' type flashlight. This light looks like the Nitcore TM11 that has been shrunk down. ;)

on Alibaba.com, which is a website for Chinese manufacturers and vendors, they are advertising the Black Shadow lights as a production series/brand of Skyway.

WTF is Skyway please?

EDIT:
yep. seems like "Black Shadow" is 100% affiliated with "Sky Ray". while Black Shadow has a §$%&! flashlight company website, Sky Ray hasnt. to me, they are the same people behind the 2 "names". maybe they started off by producing no-name lights and printing "Sky Ray WTF" on the lights, selling them at a low price (the Sky Ray Wing sells for ~50US$ shipped) and trying to find out what the market is most interested in. and then they launched an official brand ("Black Shadow") with its own website and began to produce more or less the same designs (which they knew the market would/could be interested in, see the Sky Ray Wing babies with CR123A or AA as energy source) and adding a markup in order to profit from the expected situation: Sky Ray Wing buyers would be interested in buying Black Shadow stuffz.

Note that Black Shadow production quality is the same as Sky Ray build quality and that Black Shadow prices are not budget or low as were Sky Ray prices.

Well played.

Really well played.

Sky Ray, perhaps, as in King. Darth apparently rose in price from CQG / Fancy Flashlights this morning, to $92 shipped ($5 extra for neutral). Ric is honouring existing orders, so early testers get a nice little reward.

Oh how convenient! Skyway people (=Black Shadow folks) realize that forum people are jumping the Darth with welcome enthusiasm, and they quickly decide to raise the price like stocks on Wallstreet market. Why would anyone want to pay 92$ for (basically) a budget lamp (skyway is no-name budget stuff) made by a 2011 company with no track record?

Some people in other parts of the world really think that they could squeeze milk out of buyers from the Western hemisphere. Thanks!!

Perhaps because they like the look of it, and think it worth the money? I think it's called capitalism.

Exactly, i bought a TN30 last month and would like to see how this performs for a quarter of the price as i got it for the original price of $62.

So from this can I assume you've seen & used the BlackShadow lights? What was there not to like?
