Hi AT , I am a fan of your lights of past and wanted a Dobermann to add to my others. Now to be frank I will not buy one with the issues surrounding the newer models . I would like to know if these issues are recognised (admitted) and what is going to be done around poor centred led's,poor reliability with drivers.

Please advise if anything is being put in place to improve and if you can answer, what has gone wrong? Is it quality control cut backs or just new drivers/parts. Or is no issues recognised ?

Kind regards

Hi! Thank you for your post here! And thank you for being a fan of our lights.
Sorry for the delay in replying – I needed time to clarify information for you.
Here we go.

We always gather information about different types of problems and correct such problems. Tactical lights` drivers were renewed taking into account all wishes and a lot of ideas of our clients and now there are no problems connected with that. For example, we have changed temperature indication according to customers wishes. The large number of flashlights with poor centered diodes that can affect the shape of spot and quality of the light was not registered. Such cases are single and we always make warranty replacements if this happens to our customers. Quality control always works on the factory and all flashlights are being checked. But there are situations when some things can be missed because of human factor. This is inevitable. But we can`t say that the number of responses with poor centered leds has increased. However as we constantly develop and improve our manufacture we have a plan of changing the system of led`s centering in tactical flashlights in the next year. We want to eliminate such moments at all.

Thanks for the feedback, hoping the v3.5 will have most of the issues ironed out and more testing along with higher/better QC . If the factory is where the lights are being checked and getting through(passed) yet obvious issues found, be it ringy beams to off centred leds etc. Is anything in place to address this, training, more employees etc. Reason i ask, unless changes are in place then nothing is going to change for future lights and confidence dwindles further.

Also ansi ratings in line with other manufacturers testing.

Thanks again

a couple months in on my ownership of the DP LE HI. Not a single problem to report the light works just as well as the day I got it.

I am unsure as to buying a Dobermann XP-L HI. I would like a small light weight thrower, but i am worried about off centre LED which will reduce the throw. Still its hard to ignore 37k Lux in a small light.

You can always try your luck and buy it from a good dealer. If you do get one, hope you share CC's good luck and not my dissatisfaction. I've sent my light, which itself is a replacement for the first failed light, in for repairs. Who knows when and what I'll get back.

tried out 2xCR123's in my DP LE HI last night. The light devoured the cells in less than an hour! Wow! Just how many amps is this light? Gonna stick to my new 3500mah 10amp cell in this light. I so want a Viking Pro V3 but am to afraid Ill end up blowing 100 bucks on a malfunctioning light. For the heck of it Ill try a set of fresh Keeppower 16340's in the light tonight see how it does. Thus far I am more impressed with the DP LE HI than I am my PP LE HI.

Could you tell me why? I want to push my luck and buy my third armytek. But there are not many differences between these two lights. I would prefer one between the predator pro hi and the barracuda pro hi but I don't think armytek has plan for it.

I tried 18650ga and 18650b in my Predator and no difference in output on my luxmeter. There is a little with my p12gt, nothing with my mh20. Didn't try in my barracuda.

I don't know why the dobermann seems to take more juice than the predator but if I buy one, after the checkup, that will be the first thing to measured.

I'm interested in ordering Dobermann Pro XP-L HI from a Finnish company. I'm wondering now if anyone's had any problems with the XP-L HI version. I've read problems with disabling the strobe, has it been fixed in HI version?

Also, Armytek site tells me Dobermann XP-L HI does not have built-in high temperature indication. Is this true? The site tells the same about normal version, but Armytek posted earlier that 4 blinks is high temperature indication. The manual I found by googling (couldn't find it on Armytek's site) does not describe high temperature indication.

Are there different versions of Pro HI model?

I prefer the Dobermann mainly due to its more compact size. That and I prefer the beam out of the Dobermann. I like my PP HI and all but the thick corona around the hot spot is just odd to me. Ultimately the PP does not out throw my DP by much at all to my eyes. Built in high temp indication? My DP does have this. Once the light reaches a certain temp the light flashes 4 times then lowers output to cool off. Are there different versions of the DP? Going by AT's own statements the answer is yes there are "pre release" versions that perform differently then there are the DP's they advertise. Which one you get is a crap shoot unfortunately.

It took a long time but I was able to find the online manual for my PP HI I have had zero luck in finding the online manual for the DP HI. Luckily here in the states AT dealers are very good at taking back lights that do not function as advertised. In Europe the only reputable retailer I know of is called Nikon or Nkon something like that. Before you buy an AT always ask the retailer about returning the light should it not function as advertised.

I have been following AT threads here on CPF and on other light forums. I may be wrong but I believe a big key to getting proper performance out of the new AT's is to use at least the new 3500mah 10amp NCR18650GA cells. I cannot find where I read it but I swear I read somewhere that the Pro's are 4 amp lights thus a higher amp cell would be best.

I agree that 3500mAh 10A 18650 should be used in the new Armytek XP-L HI lights.

I tried fresh Duracell CR123's in both my AT's. The lights cranked like hell for 2 seconds then dropped to a medium output.

First problem with Armitek lights. Just received my Dobermann Pro v3 LE HI, I cannot disable the strobe/firefly1. Don't have this issue with my Barracuda and Predator. The tint is warmer than my other two lights with the same xp-L hi.

It takes 5 cycles instead of 3 to enable, disable the trobe/firefly1 on my unit.... Weird...supposed to be 3 like the other two Armitek I have.

I have seen some people who cannot disable the strobe...try 5 cycles....with the Dobermann.

If I undertand correctly, I have a pre-released version? I just sent a mail to Sandra.

That could explain why the box is not like my other 2 lights. A plain one with a sticker only.

Perhaps not. I've not seen examples other than the plain box with a sticker for the Dobermann Pro. The boxes of the 2 I received were plain as well. I received the 2nd one after the dealer had restocked, 2 months after I purchased the 1st one. Unless AT decided to sell the dealer consecutive batches of pre-release lights without telling the dealer, I don't believe mine were pre-release samples.
