AW RCR123 ("ICR123") with bubbled label - something of concern?

Re: AW RCR123 ("ICR123") with bubbled label - something of concern? I believe it's about two years old. That's about when I bought the PD22UE, and IIRC I got it immediately afterwards. Due to the counterfeiting, I used AW's list of authorized dealers, and bought (buy) my AWs only...

AW RCR123 ("ICR123") with bubbled label - something of concern?

And rust it is... Which is mysterious to me since I never handle batteries wet, nor are any of my other batteries showing any similar phenomena, and, the PD22UE it was inside of has no signs of corrosion. Oh, well, off it goes to the great beyond. Thanks for the tip!

AW RCR123 ("ICR123") with bubbled label - something of concern?

California Coast Range, about 25 miles from the coast, but with mountains between the ocean and us. None of my other Li-Ions have similar phenomena, though. This cell was the primary fuel source for a Fenix PD22UE, until now.

What was the last LED light you purchased and why?

I really got tired of munching on flashlight bodies, so I finally got both a Fenix HP25R and a Petzl Actik headlamp. The former is for "I want to turn night to day" (LOL), and the latter for general use. Just the standard Actik that uses only AAAs.

AW RCR123 ("ICR123") with bubbled label - something of concern?

During my recent scheduled recharging session, I noticed that one of my AW RCR123s has "anomalies" under the label. They feel to be "solid," and don't compress down under a fingernail. I do not recall these being there before. I decommissioned this from use (and didn't recharge it) pending...

PRACTICE DRILL: A mass solar flare just hit earth. The grid is down...

Three days - just nine meals - to Anarchy. Most Americans don't have more than a week's food in their home. Many have less. Only a tiny percentage have much more (preppers, Mormons, and similar). The number one "preparation" one can undertake for any form of enduring catastrophe or the...

Li-ion powered credit card reader forces Alaska Airlines plane into emergency landing

I'll be very interested to see the final FAA report about the make & model of the Li-ion cell! I read the early report of this story that didn't mention the battery, and knew exactly what happened...

    Inexpensive emergency lights

I'm sure this isn't going to be a popular suggestion, but for emergency purposes, I always recommend Maglites. Always. Standard Maglite LED 2 AA in this case. Well less than $20 including tax, each. If you want it to be there, ready for you, you don't screw around with third-rate lights, or...

When somebody tells you they have a flashlight but pulls out a cash register special

People usually look to me for light. I use my always-available Fenix E15, or whatever else I might have with me. Never give them a chance to pull out the LOL lights.

What is the oldest flashlight you remember having as a kid?

The oldest flashlight I myself bought, probably around when I was 10 (c. 1981), was, I believe, a Pelican, all plastic, double AAA. Kept it until I returned home from university (1996). We had some of those old Eveready thin plastic, double Ds, but even then I was never impressed with them. :D

Does it ever bother you that a leaky battery can destroy your high end flash light?

I use Eneloops or Li-ions in all my lights, but on the rare occasion I use primaries, they are only brands that guarantee the device against leakage.
