    The strobe function I would keep, if only just to play around with. I have better tools available for self defense. The SOS? Has that ever really helped someone to be rescued? I doubt it.

    I don't own one of those, so I don't know if the ticking is normal but..... If it's charging your batteries right, and it's not over heating....you should be okay.

    Non-flashlight battery question: can I replace NiCd with NiMH in a Dremel battery?

    I think it's worth a try. NiMh aren't that expensive. Just keep a close eye on it while it's charging. I would do the same thing if I could figure out how to get the battery carrier open without breaking it. Any tips? Or maybe we don't have the same model. Mine's at least 18 years old...

    Check out the Sunwayman V20C. Has the floody Cree XM-L LED, rated 438 lumens. Can run on an 18650 battery. See it at Battery Junction. Edit: I should have checked out the Eagletac first, LOL. Looks like it has the Sunwayman beat in every aspect except price.
