    Just received Sunwayman M10A & M10R

Wait, I'm confused...all of the sales sites list the old "R2" M10R with a voltage range of 0.9 - 3.2V, and the new "R5" M10R with a voltage range of 0.9 - 4.2V. Are you saying that the new "RCR-friendly" voltage listing is wrong? I am also interested in the ring UI, and the craftsmanship on...

Ra Clicky (HDS Systems EDC) - Part 11

At the risk of telling you something you've already considered, that sounds an awful lot like you engaged the button lock. Once the light is "locked", clicking the tail just blinks three times and shuts off. I've never tried holding the button in while locked; does it blink forever if you do...

JETBeam RRT-0 Overview With Lots of Pictures

There aren't any marks, but the genius of only having four levels is that min and max are always instantly accessible (turn the ring 'til it stops, one way or the other), and levels two and three are immediately accessible by hitting either min or max, and then moving back one stop. It works...

NiteCore Infilux IFE1 XPG-R5 Overview - Lots of Pictures

What is the general power savings of an LED?

Also, the efficiency of an LED is highly dependent on temperature. As any LED gets hotter, it will be less efficient. So, your LED:incan ratio is dependent on manufacturer, emitter type, bin code, lot number, tint, current applied, and operating temperature on the LED side, and probably...

What is the general power savings of an LED?

And they cost 100x more. And they are extremely susceptible to heat, requiring elaborate thermal strategies for the brighter emitters. I love LEDs, and have been flirting with the idea of trying to build myself an SST-90-based light fixture, but "LED replacement bulbs" simply will not work as...

Ra Clicky (HDS Systems EDC) - Part 10

+1 I bought a Clicky specifically as a "works no matter what" light, so I would never do a third-party mod that puts in an un-stress-tested emitter. As as example, it might be neat to have a "warm" SST-50 in there (depends on actual current delivered to the emitter, I suppose), but the SST-50...

    NITECORE INFILUX series

Re: New Nitecore on the block Well, there are a couple of downsides. The biggest (at least with the Jetbeam and it's relatively stiff ring*) is that adjusting the brightness is rather awkward if you only have one hand free, especially if you normally hold the light in an overhand grip. Ring...

    iPhone 4 LED flash flashlight

Re: Apple Approves Iphone 4 LED Flash To Be Used As Flashlight So, it's safe to say that we probably won't have a bunch of threads popping up asking: "Which iPhone strobe app is best for self-defense?" :D

    iPhone 4 LED flash flashlight

Re: Apple Approves Iphone 4 LED Flash To Be Used As Flashlight Well, it's a little off-topic, but the super-simple explanation is that Apple puts a bunch of code (APIs) on the phone for other developers to use in their apps. However, some of it is marked "public" and some is "private". If a...

NiteCore Infilux IFE1 XPG-R5 Overview - Lots of Pictures

Re: NiteCore Infilux IFE1 XPG-R5 Preview - Lots of Pictures I couldn't tell from the video: does this light have a delay between when the clicky is depressed and when the light comes on, if the ring is set to something other than 'off' when you push it?

"Flydragon" sst-90 monster with big aspherical lens

Doesn't that mean that it has a regulated driver that is keeping power constant?

    NITECORE INFILUX series

I don't suppose it will actually be the same head for all three versions? (Yes, I'm still hoping for interchangeable body tubes...even more so if there is an 18650 version. :candle:)

    E1B 110 lumen vs RRT-0

Unless I'm mistaken, you were basically comparing light "1" to light "2" to light "3" to light "4", in order to reach a conclusion regarding "1" and "4". I'm not necessarily saying that I doubt your conclusions, just that lights "2" and "3" are not always equivalent, even if their specs are the...

    E1B 110 lumen vs RRT-0

That's not necessarily a good comparison. I have both the RRT-0 and the Jet-I Pro, and the Jet-I is noticeably brighter (on 14500) than the RRT-0 (also on 14500). Note that this is even with an OP reflector in the Jet-I and a SMO in the RRT-0, so it's not a matter of a more concentrated hotspot...
