    Re: First time you became aware of "high end" flashlights? Interesting replies here guys and thank you. It looks like Maglite and Surefire were early inspirations. So far I am starting with McGizmos and Muyschondts with an eye towards Cool Fall as my next purchase.

    Titanium or aluminum body? Which do you prefer for EDC?

    Thanks for the replies! Merits go to each metal. I'm trending towards titanium for the lightness, toughness and looks because my heat management is not often at the higher levels but good to hear all opinions.

    I am in my early 50's and can first remember commercials for the D cell Maglights I believe in the early 1980's. They immediately caught my attention at the time as it was the first time I can remember thinking that what I considered an "ordinary household item" could be elevated to another...

    I have an affinity for high end stainless steel items however a combination of lightness and durability are more important to me for pocket carry. Both aluminum and titanium fit those categories and I was wondering what most people here prefer in a pocket flashlight?

    Mine began with mechanical watches, moved to custom folding knives and now is firmly getting into high end flashlights.

    You have six versions of the same flashlight, all in different places and you justify it to yourself by saying that the learning curve has already been met.
