    Cree A19 9.5w 60w 800lm 2700K for $13.97

Looks like they are using a whole bunch of XT-E or XP-E high efficiency white LEDs in the bulb. Youtube link to the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jnVw0doTbJ4 Picture of the bulb without its glass can be seen for example in this article...

What was the ONE light that got you hooked...

Fenix L1P was the light, however before that just reading ledmuseum and cpf really started it.

What is the general power savings of an LED?

The 10:1 efficiency ratio applies to cold white LEDs. For general lighting you should compare incandescents to low color temperature and high color rendition LEDs. In that case I think the ratio is more like 6:1. That is about the same as fluerescent lights compared to incandescents. Current...

    Changing TR-801 driver?

I changed the driver on my TR-801 to one of the DX 1050mA multi-mode 7135 drivers. The original driver on at least on my TR-801 was totally unregulated PWM driver. There is just a transistor that is switched on and off by a microcontroller. You should unsolder the two points where it is...

Looking for brightest led for least power

The most efficient low power LED at the moment is Nichia NSPWR70CS-K1 also known as Nichia RAIJIN. They have 150lm/W at 20mA. Nichia is shipping them but I havent found a good source for them yet. They seem to be mainly available at japanese sites.

    FENIX HP10 (NEW HEADLAMP !?)

I think it will be officially announced pretty soon. This finnish fenix store has a note on their headlamp page that the headlamp is coming in few weeks. http://www.fenixvalaisimet.fi/fotsavalaisimet.htm

    EagleTac P100 series

Re: New EagleTac Model On the PTS-flashlights store there is also a new SSC P7 light from EagleTac with 2x18650 or 4xcr123 in side by side battery configuration. http://www.pts-flashlights.com/products/product.aspx?pid=96-152-166-6658 This is a picture of a prototype of the light on the PTS site.

    EagleTac P100 series

Re: New EagleTac Model XR-E and XP-E use the same 1mm^2 die. XR-C and XP-C use the smaller die. Are you mixing up the package and die size? Die means the actual LED chip.

Trust Fire TR-801 Test with pics!

I found the reason for the unreliable tailcap on my light. I started checking with a multimeter where the circuit fails in the tailcap. It turned out that the switch on it self works perfectly but assembled tailcap does not. Then I found out that this happens only when the retaining ring is...

Trust Fire TR-801 Test with pics!

The 2A was also going to the LED. 7135 based drivers work with 2xCR123 but the driver may overheat if used for prolonged time. In this drivers case the current output has no limits and is based on input voltage. The microcontroller is used for the rapid output on/off switching just like in all...

Trust Fire TR-801 Test with pics!

I also got a while ago 5-mode TR-801 from DX and i was a little disappointed about it. Firstly the tailcap sometimes does not make a good contact even though the retaining ring is tight. I was also surprised about the 5-mode driver. I thought it would be 7135 based but instead it's...

    Quad cree led !

    Plus the much smaller size.

    Quad cree led !

WOW what a sleeper light that would be. You would just have to make a solid copper pill and wire the led direct drive with chips 2s2p and you could have over 500 lumen minimag. I think that would be perfectly doable with one of these leds.

SSC P7 Mag against OSRAM 64440 Mag & RaidFire Spear. 95-250 m beamshots!

If i understand correctly you haven't actually measured the current to be 2.8A and are just looking at the typical value at datasheet? The led's actual vf has large effect on the current in DD configuration. In this thread Gryloc measured his P7 led pass way over 4A of current at 3.6V...
